Re: What 1RM to compete

I've got very similar numbers to yours, but I feel nowhere near competitive level. Your bench is much stronger (mine is only 100 kg), but my deadlift is stronger at 217.5 kg. The rest is about the...

articular capsule left clavicle to manubrium sterni damaged

I damaged to capsule attaching my left clavicle to my manubrium sterni when a ruck collapsed on top of me with rugby.

I placed the ball towards my team mates, pulled my arms back and put my hands...

Re: Back Squat 225x20 - 17 Years Old

You have the same problem as I have with back squats: from the bottom your butt raises faster than your shoulders. In the top half of the squat it's the other way round since your knees are close to...

Re: What is a typical front squat to back squat ratio?

Like Jeff said it depends a lot on whether you do high bar or low bar back squats.

My personal bests are 117.5 kg front squat and 150 kg high bar back squat, which gives a ratio of 0.78 : 1.

Re: Recommended Weighlifting Belt???

I've got a Schiek model 3004 lifting belt. The interesting thing about this belt is that its shape is conical: it's wider at the top than at the bottom, and that it has both the features of a tapered...

Re: Bar weights in KG even in Pound land ?

All the IWF and IPF licensed bars and plates are very precise.

For competition bars and plates IWF uses the following criteria for accuracy:

Bars and the plates ranging from 10 to 25 kg are...

Re: Bar weights in KG even in Pound land ?

Wouldn't it be easier if the US just adopts the metric system?

They probably make 45 lbs bars and plates because then they hardly have to change anything compared to making a 20 kg bar or plate....

Re: 225x100 Squat

Have to agree with Dwight. I see more point in this than in an equipped powerlifting record.

I also see more point in this than in for instance a workout like Murph with 300 air squats. I can do...

Re: Crossfit and Rugby log

Did you stop keeping track of your workouts or are you injured? It's been quiet here for quite a while now.

Re: Bar weights in KG even in Pound land ?

You are joking right?

Even Ivanko, which although it doesn't like it, is an American manufacturer of barbells, make more barbells of 20 kg than of 45 lbs. All their IPF licensed powerlift bars are...

Re: 1000lbs club CrossFit Total

Very nice indeed!

I'm also coming close of the 1000 lbs CFT, right now I'm at:

DL: 217.5 kg
BS: 150 kg
SP: 75 kg

Total of 442.5 kg, so that's 975.5 lbs. Smallest plates at the gym I go to...

Re: Need help with OH Squats

OHS usually is a lot lighter when you start. I've started lifting again three months ago and right now my squat PR's are:

Overhead squat: 57.5 kg
Clean grip front squat: 117.5 kg
High bar back...

Re: hip flexors (iliopsoas) painful next day after squats

Usually I alternate between front squat and back squat every workout. I work out three times a week (sometimes two) and also have rugby practice twice a week and a match once a week. But because of a...

Nobody who has any experience with this or knows how to prevent it?

Could it be that I progressed too quickly? I started again with weightlifting on November 21st after a hiatus of more than three...

Re: How do I get insane strongh neck extension for rugby?

I'd love to go to number 8, or back to second row, but the problem is that we don't have enough props, which is also the reason why I got to play prop in the first place.

Two seasons back out of...

hip flexors (iliopsoas) painful next day after squats

Since about three weeks now I wake up with slightly painful hip flexors (iliopsoas) the day after I've done squats.

It doesn't really matter what kind of squats: HBBS, FS, OHS, they all give the...

In that case there's nothing wrong with going for a powerlift belt. If you're quite tall and/or have a large waist circumference you could even go up to 5" wide and 1/2" thick if it's just for those...

It makes quite a difference if you just want to use it for heavy back squats and deadlifts, or if you also want to use them for cleans and maybe even...

Re: Tabatas - How much is too much?

What would be good exercises for Tabata that do not rely so much on muscle endurance that they limit the CV intensity?

I usually give the warming-up with some extra strength and conditioning work...

Re: How do I get insane strongh neck extension for rugby?

I'm doing Pendlay's beginner program (with some personalization), because I started again with weightlifting after my neck injury.

I'm not doing any metcons. I'm okay with how my endurance levels...

Re: How do I get insane strongh neck extension for rugby?

I'm already doing quite some weightlifting, so I think I'm already set with my cleans, snatches and squats. Can't do much more of those without overtraining, because I also have rugby practice twice...

Re: How do I get insane strongh neck extension for rugby?

Ah, that explains a lot. Similar to what I found last time I checked for neck strength training (about a week after my injury).

I don't think that I need to start at 5# by the way. I've already...

Re: Crossfit and Rugby log

Very different from the way I train. I try to max out on at least one lift each workout, out of my last 10 workouts 9 had at least 1 PR.

Quite brutal when combined with rugby, but manageable. It...
