competitions in GA/FL?

Anyone know of any affiliates hosting any competitions in the next few months in GA or FL? Or even any kind of amateur strongman competitions? Searched on google to no avail. Thanks.

Re: 5/3/1 + assistance as met con?

Yo man, i'm not a wendler expert, but I am doing exactly what you're talking about right now, not necessarily with the same goals though. I do the 5/3/1 lift, assistance exercises, then a short...

Re: What Does Your Ink Mean?

I actually just got a large tattoo on my left shoulder that covers the area the bar rests for low bar back squats. I took 10 days off from squatting to let it mostly heal up, then for about 5 days...

Re: Difference between Track Speed Suits and Weightlifting Singelts

Only the sweetest cycling movie ever made, American Flyers. Yes, Breaking Away was good too, but it lacked in the soundtrack department, which is where American Flyers made its money.

Re: CFSB - Ask your questions here!

Hey y'all, have another 7 or 8 weeks on the strength-biased lifting program, wanted to post up new PRs. 3-rep back squat 4 months ago, 230. Now, 300. 5-rep deadlift 4 months ago, 305. Now, 365. ...

Re: halloween costumes

Yeah man, though I haven't raced a tri in about 2 years. You flying C-17s out at McChord? I'm actually at Fairchild right now for some training. You run into Jason Neago or Heath Kerns up there at...

Re: halloween costumes

Also considering being a sports trophy -- painting myself gold and walking around with a bag full or sports props like a bowling ball, baseball bat, track spikes, swim goggles, and the like.

halloween costumes

Surprised no one has started a thread yet this year. Who has some great ideas for costumes this year? Right now, I'm debating on going as either A) Zack Galifianakis from The Hangover; B) an...

Re: CFSB - Ask your questions here!

Just gathering from what I've read on this thread, metcons can be the mainpage WOD, the MP WOD shortened, one of the girls or heroes workouts (or one of these shortened), a combination of movements...

Re: CFSB - Ask your questions here!

Just thought I'd chime in with the CFSB programming I've been sticking to and the results I've seen. Started the strength-bias beginning of August, and have seen some great results in just 2 months....

Re: What are you reading?

Just finished A Salty Piece of Land by Jimmy Buffett. An entertaining summer read. Also slowly working through a Hemingway short story compilation. That guy was a total badass in his day,...

Re: P90x?

Can't argue with you there. A good squat should do that. I was just alluding to the BBer mentality of supersets and "the pump" and blasting the beach muscles. I will say though that I much prefer...

Re: rank WOD's for qualifiers

Can't believe the Great Basin WODs haven't been mentioned. I didn't see any other qualifier that had such long metcons with what would be considered "heavy" weight by last years crossfit games...

Re: Lawnmower + Fingers = Need advice about crossfit.....

Sorry to hear that man. I would say that you should just focus on your recovery and do what you can do. Obviously it sounds like you are going to be severely limited in the workouts and exercises...

Re: P90x?

And no, it's not crossfit and then some. P90X favors form; crossfit favors function. It's aesthetics vs. performance. Not saying P90X doesn't work at what it's intended for, some people have great...

Re: HSPU Issue

There was another thread on this a few weeks ago. It's perfectly normal. Over time, it seems that those little blood vessels around the eyes become more resistant to leaking/bursting under heavy...

ring L-pullups vs. bar?

I'm still fairly new to rings and gymnastic work, despite 2 yrs of crossfit (only doing muscle-ups and ring dips). I'm wondering if ring L-pullups are typically easier than L-pullups on a bar? I...

Re: Vin Diesel

I don't think I've ever actually seen an episode of star trek in my life, but I saw the movie 2 nights ago, and I was pretty entertained. It's not campy like you might expect. And just having a...

Re: New Cars anyone?

I bought my first new vehicle, a 2008 Chevy Silverado, back in November when the 2009s were on the lot and they were trying to get rid of the 2008s. I looooove it. And it gets better gas mileage...

This is adding nothing to this thread, but I just wanted to comment that Brian has one of the coolest profile pics I've seen on here.
