Re: Bacon For Newbies

Never cured my own, but we purchas bacon at a local farmer's market from a farmer about 15 miles from our house.. It's AMAZING. I highly recommend doing the same if you have a market in your area.

Re: Not so bad foods article

Definitely interesting. However, I think he trusts far too much in the gov't and big companies to do what is actually best for people and not just for their bottom lines. Other than that, I think...

Re: My first day...

I 100% agree. I'm about a month in and can say just getting out of bed and going has been the key. You won't always feel like it.

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

No Trader Joe's. But we do have Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and Fresh Market all within about 2-5 mins from one another... There's rumor that a TJ's is going to be built in the not too distant future...

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

My parent's neighbors have 2 ducks and gave me 2 eggs which I had with breakfast one day a few weeks back. It may have been totally mental, but they tasted kind of off to me.

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

I'll have to go out and take their feed from them and see how they do! haha... They pretty much leave the feeder alone as is right now. It's in the coop and they only go in to lay. I don't mind the...

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

I completely agree. My boys are 2yo and 3mo. The 2yo loves to dig... not much help yet, but we give him a spade and let him play while we work.

We've looked into CSAs before, but the ones...

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

Thanks for the imput! I keep 5 hens myself (though I strongly suspect 1 is a rooster) and get 2 eggs a day. They free range anywhere and everywhere. Best eggs I've ever had. Want to get a few more,...

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

We do buy from local farmers at the market every Saturday. Usually their prices are comporable or better than the grocery store. But you have to deal with out of season when the market slows to a...

Re: Organic foods on a budget?

We're probably going to buy half a cow here soon. We've got a giant freezer in the basement that someone gave us that's totally empty. Just trying to find the best place to get it from. I'll check...

Organic foods on a budget?

I searched the forum and didn't see my specific question, so here we go.

My wife and I are of the mindset that organic, non gmo food is best. Don't really want to argue about that (not that I...

Re: Best nutrition/food logging apps or sites?

Thanks, a lot of helpful information there. I'll probably just guesstimate a lot of the time, as I'm not disciplined (or OCD?) enough to get into weighing things. My wife is on board w/ the diet and...

Re: Best nutrition/food logging apps or sites?

Thanks for the fast replies. I just added in today's WOD as 1 hour of high impact aerobics, which gave me a deficit of 857 cals. That seems reasonable. So the goal then is to get the cals left to...
