Seeking advice on programming for a 10 year-old girl

Hi all,
I got my level 1 cert a year ago, started leading group classes at my affiliate in December, and have just now started taking private clients for 1-on-1 sessions.

So far, so good, but I...

Re: Opensource software for bar path tracking

Wow, I was looking for exactly this piece of software to help me figure out my oly form, thanks for sharing.

In related news:
For anyone with an iPhone 3GS, there's a $1 app called "slowmo" that...

Re: Gatorade alternative

That looks like quite the deep end to be jumping into - 10k feet! Ouch. Changing your mind was probably the smart option. Maybe try a metric century (only 68 miles) on flatter territory if you...

Re: Listening to your body

I think the warmup advice is solid. I have a small chronic pain in my ankle (from when I sprained it a year ago) that is my measure - if my ankle is still hurting after the warmup, then I know I...

Re: Gatorade alternative

Sorry, that wasn't my intent (as you say). I was reacting to the comparison to Greg A's 100-mile-run attempt, and saying that a cycling century isn't as big as that - it should be doable, in other...

Re: Gatorade alternative

A century isn't THAT big an endurance event, particularly depending on the terrain. If it's called "Mountains of Misery," though...I suspect it involves some hills. Well, at least your butt will be...

Re: Dancing with the Stars 2009

I'd assume the "Come Dancing" is a reference to the Kinks song, mashed up with the movie title "Strictly Ballroom."

Which does not make it a GOOD title. Just a less nonsensical one...

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup info Site...You're kidding right??

All sugar is bad, but HFCS is, in fact, worse than regular table sugar. Our metabolic response to fructose is different than glucose. Specifically, fructose is more prone to being stored as fat, and...

Re: CrossFit Games Qualifier Observations

How many of you know somebody who came to CrossFit as a means of improving at a specific sport, then eventually gave that sport up because it was getting in the way of their CrossFit? How many of...

Re: I really hate the current CF burpee standard.

I was on rower 8, smack dab in the middle and on the inside near the burpee mat. Tall, lanky guy. I think I remember seeing you do the Marine pullup test?

My affiliate had burpees in our WOD...

Re: I really hate the current CF burpee standard.

I was a judge for the burpee workout at the CF NorCal qualifier last weekend, and burpees were by far the most problematic movement from a judging perspective.

The most common faults I...

Re: CrossFit Games Qualifier Observations

Stepping into this thread, but I'm not touching the impropriety thing - I believe there are sufficient cooks in that particular kitchen.

I was a volunteer judge for last weekend's Norcal...

Re: Shirtless workouts...?

Indeed. You'll find more ripped abs (on both sexes) at a climbing gym than you'll find at any meatmarket globo.

Re: Shirtless workouts...?

Come to a rockclimbing gym. Climbers make CrossFitters look like puritans. At least around here.

I think it has to do with body image/pride. Climbing and CF'ing both give their practitioners...

Re: Excess Protein and Fats??

Right, 'cause if it's printed on paper it must be true.

There are plenty of nutritionists and doctors with all sorts of letters after their names who have written arguments (both online and in...

Re: Excess Protein and Fats??

If it's personal testimonials you're after, I fared better at weight loss on a 2500 cal/day high-fat (50F/30P/20C) diet than I did on a 1800 cal/day high-carb diet.

Re: reducing cortisol

Cortisol IS good in moderate amounts. Too much is bad (http://www.crossfiteastbay.com/2009/04/crossfit-east-bay-rest-day-090-19.html), however. (WFS)

Re: Excess Protein and Fats??

It's gotta go somewhere. What doesn't get burned gets stored as either glycogen or fat, or excreted as waste.

The reason some of us dislike carbs is because of insulin resistance. Spiking...

Re: Peeps VS Girl Scout Cookies....the challenge

Peeps are nasty, and GSC are suspiciously delicious.

One year we kept a box of peeps around until we went camping in late summer, so we could impale them on sticks and roast them over a campfire....

Re: The CrossFit Cookie Recipe

I bake a pan of these protein powder bars about once a week. They're not quite paleo, but they're tasty, easy, fairly low-carb, portable and highly adaptable:

1/4c butter
1/4c almond butter
2...

Re: Gluten Free Beer

Way too much sugar in tonic for me. Much prefer some variation of whiskey with soda or water, if it's cocktail time. Usually I just have a beer though. Beer is good. Wheat-free beer sounds about...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

I'm halfway through Omnivore's Dilemma, and couldn't agree more with Jamie RE: eliminating corn subsidies. Cure the disease, not the symptoms.

Re: Again Faster pullup bar goes mainstream

I'm betting retrofitting your gym for all those trapeze things is a helluva lot more money than buying a few step units. That and, if the footage is any indicator, the workout looks lame. This has...
