Re: CFSB - Ask your questions here!

also... how does oly lifting play into CFSB? I do the Burgener Warmup every day, sometimes several times a day just for fun and practice but I can't figure out how it works into the program.

I have only been doing CFSB for a week now but I've been doing the 5x3 sceme with a fourth set of 20reps. I plan on upping the weight and doing 3x5 in my third and fourth weeks also with a final set...

Re: CFSB - Ask your questions here!

Is it ok to really hammer a specific lift by doing it in the metcon if you've already done it in the strength portion for that day?
Would it be alright to do a heavy Diane on deadlift day, or a...

Re: Which WOD left you in the most pain?

Next Day: Filthy Fifty.
It was the first Crossfit WOD I heard about and the the one I indoctrinated myself with. It took me over 40 minutes, and I thought I was dying for 3 days.

Same Day:...

Re: unilateral strength

I'm sorry that I don't have the answer no matter what you respod to my question, but I think it needs to be asked what sort of split squat you are doing. Are you talking about a normal split squat,...

Re: Sean Sherk's "Caveman" workout

This caveman thing definately does NOT look easy but if the creator or practitioners think that crossfit is too easy by comparison maybe they should try warming up with Fran, doing Grace, and cooling...

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup info Site...You're kidding right??

Many of you probably know this already so I'm pretty sure that I'm preaching to the choir, but a pretty simple set of rules that I eat by is:

1. Avoid the center of the market. Walk around the...

Re: Proper use of chains

I do have a tendency to pull my chest up when I squat. I always feel stonger when I lean forward a bit more and let my posterior chain do the work.

Thanks for the tip, Thomas. I'll keep my...

Re: Most effective sprints workout?

IMO 100m are the perfect length for sprints. Few people other than the most highly trained can really keep top speed throughout the whole of 200m or 400m. Crossfit is about keeping up intensity,...

Re: Power Cleans

Sorry, I have nothing to add. I just wanted to say that it's cool to see Glenn Pendlay here. I've done Pendlay rows for years and now I'm on the same forum as their creator. Thank you Mr. Pendlay...

My first heavy metcon

I just did my first heavy metcon this morning and I loved/hated it. here it is:

5 rounds for time of:

Re: Hello all, I have a noob question

I think Ted has the right idea. It seems weird at first to not do a traditional split, but you will get used to it. Also I'd like to say that LSD is fine if you are training for a distance run but...

Re: Proper use of chains

Zach, How would you anchor a set of bands without a special bench or squat rack? I'm not much of a welder either so I'm not adding any metal to my current setup.

Re: Proper use of chains

I guess you're right Jose. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I don't mind being a guinea pig for something like this. I only wish that I could somehow have a control group of myself. You...

Re: Proper use of chains

No my knees don't bend in when I get stuck. The very few times I've gotten stuck I've self-spotted by taking a hand off the bar and pushing against my knee. Stupid and dangerous I know, but I don't...

Re: Proper use of chains

and to answer your question. I usually get stuck in the middle of a squat. Coming out of the bottom and pushing through the last quarter are relatively easy when compared to the middle third or so...

Re: Proper use of chains

I wasn't suggesting that I'd use a weight so high that I couldn't get it through the whole range of motion during a squat. For example, I can do a 225lbs. set of 5 reps without much problem. I...

Re: Proper use of chains

but do you really need to lower the bar weight? what if you adjusted the chains so that they only worked at the very top of the lift? what if you were lifting an extra 10-20% but only on the last...

Re: Proper use of chains

Well, I've been lifting for years. It's been on and off but I've done squats since the late 90's. My technique is good. my form is good. I'm just sort of stuck. My legs just aren't getting any...

Re: Proper use of chains

Thank you Thomas. I've heard good stuff and seen where to buy chains but I've seen almost nothing on the proper use of chains. Most of the info is for powerlifters with 1600lbs+ totals. I'm not...

Re: Proper use of chains

Nearing full extension on nearly all lifts your mechanical advantage over the bar becomes greater. I'd like to increase the downward force on the bar as the advantage becomes greater. Isn't this...

Proper use of chains

If I am doing squats in a 3x5 or a 5x3 scheme, I will be using approximately 80-90% of my 1RM. I'm wondering how much of this weight should come from chains when I'm using them? Say I'm doing 3 sets...
