Re: Games Competitors and Biceps??

Some of the condescension on this board towards wanting to achieve a certain aesthetic makes me laugh. Who cares if someone wants bigger biceps, or more visible abs? It's not as if the OP will...

Re: Healthy/Recommended Weight?

Exercise as much as you'd like, eat what you want, eat more if you are not recovering.

I've done the force-feeding thing (never done the calorie restriction thing though), and while it's a great...

Re: Trying to go from 217lbs to 195-200lbs

Alright, am I the only one who thinks this is a bit crazy? 200 pounds at 6'4" with sub 10%BF wouldn't be 'tiny' in my books. A bit lanky, sure, but pretty solid nonetheless.

I am biased of...

Re: Bent over rows

That doesn't sound like a great argument against bent over rows, as the 'IRL' argument (or 'functional movement' taken to the extreme) can also be applied to snatches, cleans, front squats... just...

Re: vit D supplementation

I'm sure the standard reply will be: take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D / day, and see if it helps with your SAD. No one else will be able to tell you if this will be effective or not.

As far as toxicity...

Re: Resting Heart Rate as an Indicator of Health

As Bob mentioned, RHR is often heavily influenced by genetics. Low rates usually run in the family. I wouldn't use it as an indicator of health.

Re: HELP! 2 mos to improve 1.5 mile run time...

IMO, way too much volume, way too soon, and more than he needs.

What works for me when I want to shave 30secs - 1min off my 1.5 mile time (fitness tests for employment every now and then):

Re: Weird eating issue!!

A latte without flavouring (e.g. Vanilla) is simply espresso and milk. Much different than a cookie.

Re: Weight loss: pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional va

The board is filled with unproductive responses (my own post included).

Chris Mason, I like your style. Tell it like it is brother.

Re: Wife Weight Workout

Check out (wfs). It's a weightlifting site geared towards women, and will provide an easy and solid base for becoming accustomed to working out in a gym.

Re: Gaining Mass?

Lots of good info in here already, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Last year I was looking to gain some weight after 10 years of staying stagnant at 180, and the ticket was eating clean +...

Re: Greetings!

People are getting more and more obnoxious on this board. Buddy was just posting a greeting. Relax.

Re: Opinions on my girlfriends lack of results

You were 2 weeks in, and you expected to see *noticeable* changes in body composition? While I feel better eating smaller meals more frequently, I'd also tend to believe that the changes in weight...

Re: Questions On Squats

This has probably been covered already, but make sure your squats are proper depth - i.e. top of the thigh (not the hamstring) below parallel, or hip crease below the level of the knee (minimum).

Re: My Diet and potential problems

You eat like a bird and work out 3-4x / day. Perhaps you haven't figured out that in regards to fitness, less is sometimes more.

Your volume would also explain high cortisol levels (if that is...

Re: Some suggestions requested for what to drink during the summer

Supplementing with Gatorade is not about the calories, but about replenishing electrolytes. Electrolytes is sort of an overused term, but it really is about keeping your salt and potassium levels in...

Re: Constantly being put down because i'm thin...

Some would say it's typical CrossFit mentality to be afraid of packing on a few pounds of fat in the pursuit of a bit of (in your case, sorely needed IMHO) size because it will make you lose precious...

Re: When is it time for hypertrophy?

I think maybe the point here is that it's ALWAYS desirable to be stronger, to be able to lift more weight - but generally, heavier guys can lift more than lighter guys. Having a high...

Re: Is the WOD sufficient?

That is probably the best way I've heard someone defend bench pressing as functional. Awesome.

Re: 09MAR WOD Picture

He is BASE jumping... with one of those wingsuits. Do a few quick google searches for video of it, it's pretty spectacular what those guys do.

Re: Military press of 66 kg

Good work on full ROM HSPUs. However, as many have pointed out, they are two different exercises, albeit with crossover benefits.

I weigh about 195, and I can bang off about 15 HSPUs unbroken on...

Re: Anyone else being judged on their diet?

I don't think Darryl's trolling; it's refreshing to see different points of view on this board instead of cookie cutter responses. And I didn't really take it as him slamming a breakfast of eggs,...
