Re: how to get better at bodyweight movements

Learn as much as you can about the movements, then do them as often and as well as you can. Learning most skills boils down to that.

Re: front squat getting better while BS getting worse?

If you stopped or reduced the amount of back squats you're probably just rusty.

Although the two movements are similiar if you only do one for a while you'll need some practice to get back into the...

Re: Start weight lifting or lose a bit of fat first ?

Pretty much what everybody else said.
You will find it much easier to build muscle and strength with a bit of tub around your belly.

You'll also find it easier to lose the fat when you have more...

Hey everybody, one lazy Sunday has given me the idea to start a log with all the other people training here. I may not be the strongest, the fittest or the most attractive person here but I truly...

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

OK I'm going to run 5/3/1.
One final question I've read the book but I'm still not sure, if I'm doing three core lifts a week does the cycle last for 4 weeks or does it run for 5 weeks?

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

BS: 117.5kg (260lbs)
DL: 155kg (340lbs)
PR: 57.5kg (127.5lbs)
C+J: 85kg (188.5lbs)

I'm thinking I might just try SS for a couple of weeks and if I'm not recovering go to 5/3/1.

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

OK guys I've made a few decisions, I've been strength training for about a year and have already run a cycle of SS but I messed with the program and didn't eat nearly enough.

I'm now on day five of...

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

This would be just the main lift and then maybe a metcon, I'm 16 though so recovery usually isn't an issue.

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

That would mean I was progressing in a 4 week cycle, or is it better to leave it as three lifts a week and progress in a 6 and a half week cycle? Sorry to ask all these questions I just want to make...

Re: 5/3/1 without bench

Ok I'm starting to get the hint that maybe the bench is worth keeping in :)

Considering though I only have access to my affiliates open gym 3 times a week would this schedule work?

Mon: Squat +...

5/3/1 without bench

I'm starting a 5/3/1 cycle + metcons and I'm wondering how important is it I include bench press?
Should I just drop it altogether or substitute it with something? Ring dips etc?
