Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

What about those lifting wrap things that curl around the bar? Seems like cheating to me, but I know there are athletes that want to use them.

Anything in the rules that prohibits them?

WFS

Just got posted. Doesn't mention "Crossfit" but looks like an event crossfiters might be interested in. ;) Some very cool programming.

Anyone...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Heh.. it has it's advantages and disadvantage. Not as accurate, and you have to dig for squats, but I find it is more sustainable over larger rep sets. I would never bother with <30 rep wods.

Josh Bridges does them backwards.

Hmm working for me.. maybe it's taking a little while to load??

Here is my argument for it:

Ok here it is. Work and Family safe.

At first I tossed the ball way to high... when they told me to get lower, I thought they were talking about the ball... not my...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

I hope so, it would be nice to have a definitive answer on it.

Using you arms on air squats seems to violate the clause, yet is allowed. As is doing DU's backwards (also allowed).

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Absolutely NOT trolling. :) I did all 150 wall balls this way. The ball is caught backwards. You toss the ball up over your head, while looking up at your target (upside-down) . Once the ball hits...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

You should try it out. We did it as a bit of a joke, but found the movement is very efficient. I got my first 55 WB's unbroken (which is good for me). It's much more like a kettle bell swing, and ...

Do you have to face the wall when you do the wall balls?

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

No, I understand how it works. I just don't see how it makes a lot of sense to score it that way. There shouldn't be huge discrepancies in rankings based on a relatively small numbers of burpees. If...

Re: Hand Protectors and 12.3

No grips at all would have made some kind of sense (never mind bleeding hands), but they didn't say that. They said you could use tape. If you were lame you could probably rig a dowel into a tape...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

I got 74 on 12.2.

I love burpees and all, but they seem pretty darn heavy on the scoring scale.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

There is a huge bias on 12.1 any way you slice it I think. Lets hope 12.4 and 12.5 compensate!

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Nor Cal

How is it possible that #215 gets 505 (106) 488 (60) 255 (284)
# 217 (me) gets 1078 (94) 58 (77) 123 (327)

So... 12 more burpees than me, 14 less snatches, and 43 less reps of 12.3...

Re: Hand Protectors and 12.3

And they just decided on this when? Yesterday? After the event already was released?

It's absurd that you can use tape and not leather grips. There is no advantage to one over the other. Bad call.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

The thing is, with a little more thought, you can both accomplish this... and be inclusive of the other athletes.

Sure you can program exclusively for the top 10% and ignore the other 30 thousand...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Sure, but they could have programmed it to separate the 85-95 folks without creating a ginormous ambiguity for the rest of the athleates. We all paid $20 too. It seems like it wasn't well thought out...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

There is going to be a giant, huge, ginormous gap between the 60 rep, and the 61 rep folks. Get a rep, move up 5000 places. Bad programming IMHO.

They need a 40yrs + division. I would soooo be out there looking for a fake ID if they did. :p
