Rubber Mat Thickness & Dimensions

Does it matter whether I buy rubber mats that are 1" or 3/4" thick? One of my local feed stores sells 4x6 horse stall mats that are 3/4" thick for $39.99 ea, and another sells 4x6 mats that are 1"...
