Nice article, Jim. I do see Mark's point. Barbell and dumbbell style lifting definitely promotes balance. I do have to argue my point though. We, xfitters, consistently do body weight exercises...

My school has rings, but only the track and field team is allowed on them. And yeah hspu's are fun but these activate different areas of the pecs. I did a bunch of them and really felt burn in...

if ur talkin bout not liking 1 RM's, all those do are gauge your strength. it doesn't actually build muscle that much. I understand why they are done but to me it doesn't feel like crossfit when i do...

The chin up and pull up hit almost exactly the same muscle groups. With the chin-up however, your chest is utilized for a portion of the motion. As another addition, the biceps are positioned better...

The first few times I did MU's I had no gloves on a knurled straight bar...needless to say my hands were pretty messed up after that. Even with gloves they get a little rough.

I always thought the rings were harder cause of the stabilization aspect. I have a very strong core but for some reason rings kill me. I think it has something to do with my shoulders.

I had a similar issue with my sternum except the tissue was torn underneath. I took it easy for a few months (or tried to, my chiropractor yelled at me every time I did MU's). But getting it treated...
