Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Actually deadlifting the smith machine would be impressive. Unfortunately not so much here.
I use the Smith for my HSPU progressions. Depending on the design it can also be handy to use for hanging...

Re: No matter how much I run...

I'm a big dude ~240 and I've enjoyed running a lot. I've done 6 or 7 half marathons, some 10k's, some trail races, etc.
I like the scenery at the races. Anyone who can run a sub 8 pace half...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Why do you consider him a quack? It seems there is no evidence either way, at least based on what you have presented here.

Re: It's hard to rest when your body is fer****

I know exactly what you are saying. I was feeling really bad for a week, classic overtraining symptoms. Tired all day, irritable sad little cough, sniffles. My lower back was very sore, my knees...

Re: A Mse once bit my sister ... No realli!

Haha. I grew up in Anchorage this was a pretty common sight in our backyard during the winter.
My sister dated a guy in high school who had a VW bug with the bonnet dented flat because a bull moose,...

Re: 300

Well, what you are talking about was common practice throughout many of the Greek city/state armies, not just Sparta.
For instance Socrates was a hoplite in the Athenian army (and despite modern...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

This reminds me of a time in a hotel gym in Taipei when a young woman dressed to the teeth in a nice dress, high heels, makeup, hair everything came in got on an excercise bike and pedaled her brains...

Re: kindle ... anyone?

Coming in a little late but...
I was jonesing for a Kindle and then I just started using Stanza on my IPhone and now really don't feel the need for anything else. The screen is a little small but...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

UGH. My wife and I used to work out at this local place by our house and there was an attention whore bodybuilder chick that had the same schedule as us. SO annoying. She never, ever shut up about...

Re: Hot for Hours After WOD

First off, I read it right the first time, but I thought "hot" as in aroused. Guess that shows where my mind is.
I have the same problem. I work out at lunch usually, and take a shower (sometimes...

Re: Is anyone as disgusted with TV as I am?

There is almost no situation in life you cannot relate to a Simpsons episode at this point. It's awesome.

As for finding something to watch at 4am, that's why Tivo rules.

Re: Is anyone as disgusted with TV as I am?

Best show ever made. Period. The only thing is the language is very authentic so 40+ white suburbanites like us had to rewind quite a bit to figure out what was being said.

We also loved...

Re: Why Should One Be Fit?

Not to sidetrack this thread, but you've obviously never wrestled. It takes an unbelievable cardio (mostly aenerobic) capacity.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I guess. If that's what he was trying to do he was doing them wrong, since 21's are supposed to be slow from what I just read. He was bouncing back and forth in the range.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Wierd one tonight.
A guy doing benches on the Smith machine. It's hard to describe and in 20 years in various weight rooms I've never seen this. Starting from his chest, he'd lift it a foot then...

Re: Who doesn't like bicycles?

Wellll. I resemble that remark. But, I will preface it by saying that I roadraced for many years still instruct at many track days, so it's not that I don't like to go fast. I also (allegedly)...

Re: Who doesn't like bicycles?

I guess I see the people who are obviously NOT passionate cyclists (or they would be in way better shape) roll in to Starbucks on $5k bikes with $1k worth of gear as pretty much the same as the...

Re: Who doesn't like bicycles?

Haha, no. I am just as capable of posing at starbucks, the difference is that my carbon fiber is bolted to a Ducati and I wear leather instead of spandex.:)
Double tall latte, for me, btw.

Re: Who doesn't like bicycles?

The Starbucks by my house on a Saturday is hilarious. You see these guys with giant paunches come rolling up on $5k carbon fiber road bikes and decked out in spandex head to toe, with full aero...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Agreed, back in my powerlifting days, I would do heavy squats first, then as a finisher put 700 plus on for high reps (and it wasn't that impressive).

Agreed with the OP, though, people not cleaning...

Re: Anyone else into motorcycles?

I'm a Nicky fan though. I'll always root for him. Hopefully he can carry the results he had at the Malaysia test and do something on the Duc this year. I predict you'll see Spies on the podium...

Re: Anyone else into motorcycles?

BRAAAP! Mine's an 04. It's pretty hammered and needs replacing though. I'm doing a Baja trip in November, so I might get a new YZ450 for that, or maybe a KTM. They don't make the WR's anymore. I...
