Re: Platform/Flooring Question

It's perfectly safe to be dropping bumpers on stall mats. If you can stand on wood and have the weights over rubber, all the better.

Re: Platform/Flooring Question

I'd be inclined to get rid of the softer foam underneath your stall mats. The floor will be more stable and I doubt they're giving you any extra protection for your weights. Are you using bumpers, or...

Re: Homemade Oly Platform

I got mine used from Kurtis at Rainier Crossfit, so it's seen daily use in an affiliate for a couple of years. It's in great shape, and is a really solid platform, doesn't move at all even though my...

Re: Wall ball size?

The Dynamax and equivalent medicine balls are usually 20lb for men, 12lb for women (you can also get an 8lb ball). They are significantly bigger and softer than a basketball though.

Re: Colored bumpers in KG

These ones (http://www.theg2scart.com/140KG_G2S_Bumper_Set_IWF_Colors_p/g2s-140kgset.htm)? They actually look like a really good deal. How was the quality?

Re: Colored bumpers in KG

Pendlay used to do some coloured metric bumpers, looks like they're clearing them out (http://www.pendlay.com/Pendlay-Colored-Bumper-Plates--Blowout-Sale_c_168.html). We have some of these at the...

Re: pull up ideas

It sounds like you're in a large garage-type space right? Check out this video (http://vimeo.com/4266209) (WFS). This is how the pullup bars are set up at the gym I go to, and it works...

Re: Is Bread Paleo?

Also, deliciousness. Seriously though, I adhere fairly strictly to a paleo diet because I feel, perform and look better on it, but (for me at least) making this a lifelong way of eating by necessity...

Re: Good Minimalist Shoe?

I love these shoes. I wear them every day, but don't work out in them. I can see how they'd be good for lifting though, they're nice and flat. Really comfy too.

Re: Equipment Package for Sale

I for one would be interested in a wanted / for sale section of the forum.

Re: Future of Crossfit gyms

I think the question is valid, and there are a lot of very good reasons why Crossfit gyms don't operate the same way "globo" gyms do.

Economies of scale is obviously a huge factor, as most of the...

Re: "barefoot" running shoes

I'm not sure how ubiquitous VFFs are, but they definitely have them at REI, and there's one in St. Louis if you ever travel up there...

Re: "Machines" that are acceptable to CrossFitters

We don't use it for a whole lot, but it does come out occasionally. I think it came about when a local highschool was getting rid of their old gymnastics equipment. The thing is as old as the hills...

Re: Dumbbells Racks ETC ETC, Bumpers

Man, they didn't even rip the images from imaspamer.com, they're linked directly :)

Smells dodgy.

Re: YOU bars

I just took a look, $38.87 for a box of 13 bars ($2.99/bar). No discount for volume (at least, 10 boxes was $388.70). Interesting idea though :)

Re: Healthy (preferably Paleo) breakfast ideas

I'd definitely second the microwave eggs, just make sure you scramble them or at least pierce the yolk. Mix in some salsa, or when they're done put some guacamole on top - salsa lasts a bit longer...
