Re: six week strength gain/weight loss programming

Well here's a specific suggestion... Cut carbs to 100g a day and none past 2:00pm. Wake up in morning and do 30-45 mins of "non-heavy breathing" fasted cardio. Then 3-4 days a week in the evening, do...

Re: Belt Squat Machine

What gym in NYC do you go to that has a belt squat machine? The only one I could think of would possibly be Coliseum but not even sure they have one.

Re: Belt is great for squats, but kills my deadlift

Quite common actually... A 4 " 10mm or 13mm lifting belt many times makes it difficult to get to proper extension while setting up in the deadlift (making it hard to set your back). Hence the reason...

Re: Experience with Starting Strength

You cant start too light... Even if your first few sessions arent as heavy as you think they should be, that will be remedied soon enough. Its much much worse to start too heavy.
In the words of...

Re: Seen in Public today

I would have ordered pan pizza with the mac and cheese as a topping... Also wondering why anyone would ever go to a place called "Dicks" for any kind of lifting equipment.

Re: Here is what Wendler said

This... Again, for some reason people are trying to complicate things and this I think is Wendler's point. Do the program, make it fit for your goals.

And I think this needs to be said, but...

Re: 5 3 1 programming

Yeah I agree with this, but its nothing new unfortunately around here... One thing I can say is doing the 5-3-1 program while following the mainsite sounds like a huge recipe for disaster.

Re: Starting Strength Question

Yep, and SS both versions, plus been to his barbell cert... People are confusing Starting Strength the program and other beginner lifting programs (a few of which are listed/recommended in PP).

Re: Starting Strength Question

Um, the program for Starting Stength is the A and B workouts... I dont know why this always gets complicated. You will deadlift once or twice depending on the week. When that changes, its no longer...

Re: Zombie War Preparation

This is one occasion where LSD is better... The LSD zombies, although easy one on one, the horde is where they get you. Not only that, immensely more terrifying. In the words of Simon Pegg:

Re: What kind of WODS to do when trying to gain weight

Again, the way to gain weight is to drop all metcons, eat, and lift heavy weights... But eat. And when in doubt, eat more. So there are no metcons to be done. Now if you are afraind of becomming...

Re: upper body programming during lower body immobilization period

Hey Davi,

I would recommend only 3-4 days a week... Which rec ctr (Asser Levy I am assuming) are you at? I would also add in hollow rocks, and some tabata stuff (push-ups, L-sit holds, planks,...

Re: RIP John hughes

Although I think most would pick The Breakfast Club, I still love Wierd Science the most... Ive watched it so many times. But really, he had some great stuff, and truly sad to see him go.

PNF stretch for improving rack position. Take a bar, rack it in your normal position for a front squat. Have a partner push up on your elbows while you are pushing against the force, and hold that...

Ill be the first to say that its pretty important to use barbells in your training, but yes there are many people out there and they all have different goals. And the mainsite WOD is not the only way...
