PAul was involved in their develoment...and from what he told me at the USAW/Crossfit Open, I don't believe they are "old stock".

Re: Bodyweight mile
my initial reading of this was that it is carried in a front rack. Carrying it on the shoulders would simplify it somewhat, but still pretty testy. I would think 15 minutes is doable...When you say...

Re: If you only had one pair of shoes...
I would say it depends on your bias. If you tend to like workouts involving heavy weights and going overhead, I would go with weightlifting shoes. Replace runs with rows. Still develop a weak area...

Re: Women's B&R Bar
Why no center knurling? Isn't center knurling present on both weightlifting bars and power lifting bars. I know it is on competition level weightlifting bars and can't imagine its not on the bars...

Re: back extention is not a functional movement.
It seems to me that Rippetoe always supports his statements with some pretty good information. Why did he state that the back extension was not functional?
If nothing else, I can't imagine that...

Re: Information on Bumper plates
Same reason you might pick one shirt over another:shrug:
People approach things differently. For example, I have not been fortunate to snatch enough weight in competition to warrant putting the red...

Re: Snatch
Ben,
the set up position, 1st pull and second pull all look great to me. What I can't or don't see is your elbows coming high and outside as part of your third pull...however, your press under the...

Re: C&J Form Check
No use beating around the bush...the split jerk was not a split jerk, nor was it a push jerk. You are caught in the middle...which I think has all the detriments to either form, but none of the...

Re: Bumpers - great service, free shipping
If it is for a garage gym/personal use, I doubt anybody is going to be putting enough reps and weight onto the bar to make a steel insert that much better. If it is getting used in an affiliate, you...

Re: Who are you pulling for in the 09 Games?
Matt Chan (Crossfit Verve)has a very good chance. He has great work capacity and impeccable form matched with solid strength. He set the bar in Colorado I think.
Another guy out of the Rocky...

Re: Maintaining barbells
You do NOT want to use WD 40 on most things. It tends to attract and cling to dirt.
I like T-9 by Boeshield for most things that require a lubricant like 3-1 oil.

Re: Information on Bumper plates
My experience with the hi temp plates is limited, but it seems the diameter of the ones I have used are on the small side compared to competition plates and Wright rubber.
I would also like to see...

Your design and decription actually gave me an idea...

Re: Snatch check
I would reccomend the following exercises to be incorporated into your routine.
Snatch from blocks -this should set the bar at about mid thigh. Since you aren't using bumpers, then you can just set...

Each region announcd the Saturday workouts the Sunday before. Personally, I don't know the value of really busting your butt on a difficult WOD a few days before the event. Personally, I took the...

Re: Anyone ever shoulder press unevenly?
depends on how you are measuring your weight on the PRs. If you are counting the bar as 45#, then probably not as they are actually 44# and a set of spring collars (at least the ones I have) make up...
