Re: Optimal Strategy for Team Thorium WOD 1

I think the 50% of max is good. Don't worry at all about your competitors reps, weights.....does you no good if their 1RM on squat is 170KG and DL 220KG and they're able to maintain reps at a better...

Re: Prp

Insurance generally will not pickup cost of PRP as a stand alone procedure. My ortho did do PRP with 2 surgeries I had: SLAP repair and achilles rupture. Insurance did cover PRP with the surgery...

Re: Lower back pain when oly lifting

I'd recommending finding a good PT that can assess how you're moving. You may not be mobilizing properly in hips & sacrum which will lead to extra stress in your lumbar. Essentially the wrong...

Re: Anyone know details on what happened to Kevin Ogar?

No, that's not the point of liability insurance of a gym. It is to protect a gym in the event that a person/member gets injured potentially due to some negligence of the gym: maybe entryway...

Re: L5/S1 Herniated Disc

Lots of back threads lately.....I've been dealing with problems for months. Have tried ART/chiro, PT and modifications.

Last week purchased book: Foundation: Redefine Your Core, Conquer Back Pain,...

Re: labrum / rotator tear

Over a year. Would've been sooner had I started ART a couple months before I did.

Re: labrum / rotator tear

Also had labrum tear repair (1 anchor) and bone spurs removed over 2 years ago. I would recommend finding a local ART practitioner after a number of months to help get ROM back. I did after 9...

Re: Is it only 3 Athletes from each Region make the games ?

Statements about prior winners getting lifetime passes to the Games came pre Reebok sponsorship. While Reebok would certainly love if Froning and Annie are in it every year....think they are just...

Re: Any CF box in Vegas doing the WODs during 3/21 or 3/22?

CF Max Effort (just south of the strip) is running Open WODS on Thursday all day and also Saturday AM classes.

I'm in the same boat as you and might try and hit one on Thursday morning. I emailed...

Re: Speal's Return?

In addition it adds a little Game Day feel for that 5 weeks. Almost everything we do in CF box is timed, scored for weight, etc. By recording your score online for all to see and having the workout...

Re: First time attempting linda: 17:08 as RX'D

Full cleans are the way I did it and it makes a big difference. Just keep your times for both full & power. Very back intensive and not fun weighing close to 200#. I was concerned about bench...

Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

Group did it with the mods I mentioned:
1000m row (no pacing restrictions)
70# kb (we recently added a 48kg Beast....no one tried it)

I couldn't do the squats due to back issues I'm working through,...

70# kb (all we have) for russian swings

Re: My SLAP Journey...

It was a good 8 months before I was comfortable with most movements. I'm 2 years post op and OH Squat/Squat Snatch are movements I haven't made an effort to find yet (never were good movements for...

Re: Lack of Running & Rowing in the Open? Why?

Your own answer is the correct one - too difficult for those from home to record. Also running in some parts of the country in February and March due to weather can be challenging at best.

Re: My SLAP Journey...

Nice to see these good stories. I'm 22 months post op (labrum tear in front of shoulder, bone spur removal) and this year have set lifetime PRs in Bench (not as lofty as Gravel...yet;)), Jerk,...

Re: Crossfit Games Regionals for Masters?

Would be difficult logistically to justify taking an already packed Regionals weekend (with men, women & team events) and fitting in another 2 heats (men & women) of Masters and changing out weights,...

Re: ATTN: People who taught them selves OLY

Those are good sources.

Also, unless you plan on teaching/coaching anytime soon there are probably better ways to spend your $$ and a weekend than attending a Level 1 cert. While there is...

Re: Deadlift program

I tried for about 6 weeks - definitely helped, loved the speed DL. Couldn't finish due to time (with all the supplemental exercises you'd be best allowing for 90 minutes) and life stuff.

Make sure...

Re: Throat injury: hit neck when doing a clean

It's been slowly improving. This weekend didn't talk as much which helped. No pain swallowing after that 1 night. Still some roughness to my voice (like a sinus infection) but improving.

If no...

Throat injury: hit neck when doing a clean

Good news was really did a good job with 2nd pull. Bad news was a brain cramp caused me to catch weight of the bar (140#) on the way up just to the right of my adam's apple.

Within 30 minutes my...

Re: Lazy man's baked sweet potato recipe?

Wrapping in tinfoil = steaming. Baking in oven uncovered = carmelized (tasty).

We do this 2x/week:

Wash 6-8 sweet potatoes and poke holes around with a fork. Bake at 390 for 45 minutes, roll them...

Re: Anyone try Inov8 Road-X Lite 155's for CF?

I've had a pair since August last year and like them a lot for CF. I have a wider foot and the 195's didn't fit as well when I was choosing the shoe.

I don't do a ton of running but they've held...

An...
