Re: Intro to blocks, starting out

People on CrossFit tend to burn more energy, so they need to increase the blocks. I've designed a free calculator to help you measure and calculate your blocks easily...

Re: Anybody else let the wheels fall off today?

I ate Thanksgiving dinner 3 times. Kept things in balance and actually lost about 3 pounds.

Re: Need Help with the Zone

The zone diet balances out different nutrients. This works like the fuel-air mixture in your car. If it's out of balance, it becomes inefficient. You become hungry all the time and store extra food...

Re: Bread & Grains

Gluten is a protein contained in many grains. Some people have an allergic reaction to it. I got e-coli a dozen years ago, and wheat just isn't my friend anymore.

Our digestive system hasn't evolved...

Re: Whole and partly skimmed milk

Most weight loss advertising says to drink Skim Milk. Most weight gain advocates say to drink whole milk.

My Nutritionist says to get as much fat in milk as I can find... add cream even. I like the...

Re: help me eat healthier

Find a friend that loves to cook. Better yet, a vegetarian cook. Then, learn from them.

It's amazing what some people come up with. One of my Chef friends introduced me to asparagus... with cumin??...

Re: food variety question

Herbs are a wonderful variation on flavors. Fresh herbs can be vastly different than the bottled stuff (like Cilantro!!).

Over the years, I've been growing different herbs. Just go outside and pick...

Re: Cutting weight for meets

Making weight for a meet can be a challenge. If you lose too much weight, too fast it can make you weak. Starving usually doesn't improve performance.

If you eat proper portions, you can naturally...

Re: Zone diet protein intake

The Zone Diet requires some calculating. It might seem complex at first, but once you start getting the idea, you can start eye-balling a meal.

I made a couple of free calculators to help simplify...

Re: A Couple of Nutrition Questions

I weigh about 170#.
My 8am breakfast consists of 3 Eggs, 3 Canadian Bacon, serving of Oat Meal and some sort of fresh fruit (could be a banana).

I'm ready to eat again about 11am to Noon.

Enjoy,...

Re: New to the forum, hoping for diet and training advice

Eating Paleo is essentially to eat like a Cave Man.

Some of this isn't available within reason. I think the most important part is to eat most of your fruit and vegetables raw. It still has the...

Re: Eating before bed?

Everyone is different. Generally, digestion doesn't work as well laying down as it does sitting or standing.

I would eat smaller meals (or snacks) close to bedtime. Another potential problem with...

Re: Light Headed on the Zone

Much of the Zone Diet literature assumes you are normal. Cross fitters exercise way more than normal. Therefore, you should eat more than normal.

I created a Zone Diet Calculator to help figure this...

Re: Recovery after 40

Did you just start back to getting in shape?

One theory is that it takes longer to heal as you get older. I've found that as I get into better shape, healing is quicker. The body is still a bit less...

Re: No Appetite!

I assume you are talking about that hungry feeling in your stomach. If you don't eat for awhile, do you start getting the shakes, like low blood sugar?

Lack of appetite is a symptom of gall bladder...

Re: Ideas/recipes to learn to love red meat/steak

Not everybody has the same genetics. Not everybody needs the same nutrients. If you're anemic, research foods that might fill the gaps. Preparation may make all the difference. I agree, medium rare...

Re: Is Vomiting Really Okay?

The amount of rest in between, increases the intensity of the following exercise. I do a lot of wind sprints. If I'm real tired before I start a sprint, then I run slower. More rest in between means...
