Nice thanks Jim!

Now I'm even more interested to hear about Rob's experience with the 1.25" rod. I found this on another site (pardon the...

Re: Bamboo Bar

Agreed - they have made many prototypes to figure out he best resin to use for the bar so that is is super strong and flexible too. But for those of us who don't want to pay $300 the diy bars are a...

Jim I'm assuming it is something like this correct?

Re: Bamboo Bar

That actually might be perfect! The bandbell bar is 1.5" in diameter I was just trying to emulate that.

Re: Bamboo Bar

Okay here it is with 200# on it:

http://gingym.blogspot.com/2014/01/diy-bandbell-bar-load-testing.html (wfs)

I'm thinking of doing a mod to improve it, should only be about $20.

Re: Bamboo Bar

You know that 140# is the most I've loaded it. I will put on at least #200 for testing purposes and post photos. I think I will get out the saw horses and see if I can simulate the hand position of...

Re: Bamboo Bar

You are correct with the assembly. It was all about the shipping - if the length can't fit inside a 59" box, they charge you for a 70# package. So that is why I had the stuff cut. Otherwise yeah...

Re: Bamboo Bar

Thanks Tom! I've always had a decent bench press, I felt surprisingly good on this despite not benching in over a year (sternum and low back injuries). Starting to feel the DOMS now though......

Re: Bamboo Bar

Tom I decided to do a test on my bar as well since I really only posted a photo of it racked with 70# total weight. Here is a video of 140# on it. It is definitely more stout than the PVC as you...

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

I'm not sure I understand the staggering you're talking about - the staggering I'll be doing after cutting up 9 sheets of plywood? :D

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

You don't have to however at the ends of any lumber you should to help reduce the potential for splitting. But those bad boys cut through standard lumber with an impact driver like butter.

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

Mike Hollister I'm down to 9 sheets of plywood. That would be for the (6) 12" boxes, (2) 6" boxes, and (2) 2.25" toppers. Oh and I have a table saw... ;)

Harold I used similar screws (rugged...

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

I've already built a set but I do like the design. I can't see where you used anchor bolts they all look like drywall screws to me. Did you glue as well for added strength?

So to get about the same...

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

Nice job Harold! After seeing Rogue's I would re-do mine as well I like their design. The dimensional stability of plywood is so nice those things won't shrink or warp and get all wobbly like with...

Re: Need advice for jerk blocks getting to much bounce

Can you make the tab on the inside that holds them together taller? That might help.

The layer one down from the top is just 2x4's it appears - super light. You can pin them by drilling a hole...

Re: Putting rubber skids on a Rogue Monster Yoke

If you don't care what it looks like, you can use 2"x6" lumber and then get nylon straps/webbing and wrap over the top of the steel and screw into the top of the 2"x6". Cut it so it fits between the...
