Re: Kettlebells and phlalates

Mike, fair enough, but whether or not I should be, I'm avoiding phlalates. I found a KB without them, and that's preferable to one with them.

And while I appreciate your concern, not every woman...

Re: Kettlebells and phlalates

Solved the problem by going to my local Crossfit-friendly fitness store and they had phlalate free KBs. The guy said the cheaper KBs have a plastic coating that contains phlalates, so he doesn't...

Re: Getting Started Again

I'm just getting back into it too after a few months off (PT for bulging disc and then total inertia). The best advice has already been given. Just go to the gym.

I did a few workouts at home...

Re: Kettlebells and phlalates

Yep, I know they're in a lot of things, which is one reason to try to minimize exposure as much as possible. I don't wear makeup with them and I try to eat organic, etc. There's no way to...

Re: Kettlebells and phlalates

For what it's worth, I just asked my husband and his response was that it should be fine as long as I wash my hands after working out. He has a degree in nutrition/exercise science, and while he...

Kettlebells and phlalates

I was looking for a KB online and found a few I liked, but all had the warning that these products contain phlalates and can cause birth defects and reproductive harm. I'm concerned in general about...

Ankle update

Hey everyone, just thought I'd update folks on the ankle issue, in case anyone is having the same problem.

I went to a PT who specializes in sports stuff for my back problems, and while we were...

Re: Ankle issue and orthotics

Hey everyone, thanks very much for the responses. Here's some clarification.

The car accident: I slammed into a line of cars on a rainy day, probably going around 20-30 mph. It destroyed my car...

Re: Ankle issue and orthotics

Megan,
He did an X-ray and found an issue (bone fragment) on the other ankle though nothing where the pain was presenting on the problem ankle. When he pressed the area, however, it was definitely...

Ankle issue and orthotics

I don't really know what I'm expecting from this post, but here goes:
i was training for a half marathon in Vibrams (after carefully ratcheting up distance). I switched from a soft track to a hard...

Re: Birth control issues?

Katherine,
The diet stuff would take up a full page; suffice it to say, it's not great, but not terrible either. Calories are sufficient. I have been guilty of overtraining, but this other issue...

Re: Birth control issues?

Thanks for the comment, Kevin. I should perhaps add that my stalling started when I was doing CF 5x a week, and that now my training consists of CF in addition to traithlon training (tempo runs,...

Re: Lauren's Starter Log

It's been a while since I've been on the boards, but we did CFT today and I wanted to update my log. It's been one year of crossfit, and six months since I did CFT (370 that time). Today I broke...

Jamie, you missed Jay's coup d'etat. He wooed us with his ribs. Or in my case, BBQ chicken.

Shane, the best part is that he just rolls out of it and then you see him two seconds later doing chest to bar pullups.

I also love the interviewer's shock in the 4th segment that the women are...
