Re: Meal Size and Insulin Response

On this subject, here's a WFS blog page (http://bradpilon.com/http:/bradpilon.com/2008/12/protein-carbs-and-insulin.html) where Brad Pilon (Eat Stop Eat) claims that the insulin response from food,...

Re: Help my wife

Sure! Lots of people lose weight by changing nutrition and little else. Add in walking or a sport and she'll be fit and toned, too. No need for much intensity for those goals, IMO.

Personally, I've...

Re: bugs?

Those are pretty common here in Thailand, though I have never seen them all packaged up like that. We usually buy them from the street vendor. I eat insects once a week or so; I figure they fall into...

Re: CF After SS

I did a SS cycle Jan-Apr of last year, Mondays and Thursdays. I added 100 pounds to both DL and squat, and gained about 15 pounds of pudge. (Well, maybe not all pudge, but you get the idea..) Took me...

Re: How many rest days do you take per week?

Personally, I don't like schedules. I decide if I'm going to work out that day by listening to my body when I wake up in the morning.

Re: Dips on straight bar / smith machine?

My vote for a good sub would be feet elevated (about 2 feet) pushups. The difficulty seems about equal, IMO.

Re: Neck pain with back soreness?

This (WFS) link (http://www.drbookspan.com/NeckPainArticle.html) helped me. Best of luck.

Re: Couple Thoughts on WOD Creation

OK, so I have my list all made up, 20 of my favorite exercises. Any advice on how to choose from the list and make a good workout? How many exercises in a circuit? Which should go first/last?

Re: Deadlifts...how heavy to go?

I agree with you, and I'm a young(ish) guy of 30. When my squat and deadlift got to 315, I capped them. It's just a convenient place to cap: 3x5 with one plate, 2 plates, 3 plates, and you're done....

Re: How to know if recovery is not good?

I think the rule is that recovery is "not good" when you can't increase the weight for 2-3 workouts. (If it's only one time, it could be a fluke.)

Re: Half Ton MOM/DAD

Frankly, I don't mind if some of my tax money goes toward helping poor, suffering bastards like these. Why not have a little kindness, decency, charity? There's little enough of it in the world.

Re: My dream of living a simple life.

You might like WWOOFing (http://www.wwoof.org/) (WFS). In exchange for a few hours farm labor per day, you are given room and board at a farm, pretty much anywhere in the world. Families with...

Re: Crossfit Warm up

Sometimes I'll do the CFWU for time; it's an excellent workout on its own.

Re: Coconut & Fish

So then, on the weekly trip into town all I need to get is some green veggies and nuts? OK, I can do that. Thanks, everyone :)

Coconut & Fish

Question for all you diet experts: is a diet consisting of fish, coconut, papaya, and pineapple lacking anything important?

I'm going WWOOFing on a farm in Hawaii, and my friend says that, except...

Re: New Guy here--Arms get really sore after workout/Paleo Diet comments

Dude, I felt like I was going to die the first time I did 3 rounds of the Crossfit warmup! But you adapt quickly to this stuff.

On a Paleo diet, I've always lost weight. I've charted it; it was like...

Re: Is crossfit really enough?

It takes me 20 minutes just to do the CFWU, and for a few weeks that was enough of a workout for me! Can you do 3 sets of 15 chins/dips/etc? The WOD is added onto that. This is an important point, I...

Re: Need Help Seeing Results

Two things come to mind.

1. My pecs shrank too, so I added in flyes. Vanity, I know, but I just like having thick pecs, and it only takes a minute to throw them in at the end of a workout. (Everyone...

Re: Something a Smith machine is good for!

On BW rows..I find these surprisingly difficult. You'd think they'd be easier than deadhang pullups, but I find my max on each (12) is the same.

On Smith machine..Everyone loves to rip on these, but...
