Re: knee stability

Sounds like the standard advice applies.

Don't do lunges for a while.

(and don't take medical advice from people on...

Re: Minor Meniscus Tear - rehab protocol?

It took 10 days of not doing anything with the leg other than light stretching for me to wake up with no pain. So I guess letting it rest and heal is a good first step.

So far the...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Hitesh,
Swollen with fluid after 10 months doesn't sound great....

My knee felt "loose" and when I was standing and turned I felt it slip a bit.

Went in to the surgeon and he did the...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Hang in there Hitesh.

After you get the leg warmed up with the stationary bike or something similar I found a big cloth belt flipped around the foot was useful. You can lay on your back and use...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

There is a MASSIVE range in how conservative vs. aggressive your doc will be in prescribing treatment.

Also a giant range in each individual's drive, pain tolerance and recovery ability.

The...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

My surgeon told me the brace was just to keep me from ripping the knee apart if I slipped or such.

Ice is essential in the first 4-5 days. You need to keep the swelling down as much as possible and...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Agree with your PT - I think you are waaaay overthinking this.

Continue with your fantastic progress, chalk it up to good genes and all the hard work you put into getting strong for your surgery. ...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

You'll probably be fine.
Sounds like you had a fairly conservative rehab plan, others are up and walking pretty quickly. I only say that to let you know...you'll probably be fine after your month...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I did the same thing in PT for an ACL replacement. Re-training the leg to know where it is in space. Works for that.

My bosses boss (the head of the company) HATES the smell of broccoli. And I sit two offices away from him.

He's also loud, and runs the company, so he used to yell out things like "open a window"...

1x5x325# Deadlift critique

Would appreciate any comments on my form. Lifts felt ok to me, but it looks like they had a pretty brief lockout at the top.

Yes, I know I'm fat, lack fashion sense and need a better camera....

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Very important! Also, you can't just trust your PT to know the right thing to do and do it.

Some will be aggressive and some very cautious in their PT regime. If you are a Crossfitter you may...

Re: Back pain when raising right foot-ideas on treatment?

How do I judge my hip mobility and core strength? I'm doing ATG squats with no problem and my Starting Strength work sets have gone from Sqs -3x5x165 to 3x5x255 and Deads -1x5x235 to 1x5x320 from...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Peter, I think you'll be able to get around ok if you use the shuttle as much as possible.

You still will probably benefit from ice though especially if you are limping in and out of classes. ...

Back pain when raising right foot-ideas on treatment?

Any ideas on this?

For over two weeks I’ve had a steady pain in my lower back, about hip level and about 3 inches to the right of my spine.

It feels bad when I wake up and stays that way all day....

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

Take it easy on yourself. You're only 5 days out of surgery. That's waaaaaay too soon to be thinking you aren't progressing fast enough.

Just keep the inflammation down (ice), keep working on...

Re: ACL Reconstruction Recovery

What's the purpose of the ice? To decrease swelling and minor pain relief. Is your knee swollen? If so, ice.

Since you are only two days out of surgery I'd say ice anyway even if you think...
