Re: Dumb Bar Question
This is by no means a recommendation, but I know some gyms continue to use Hi-Temp 10s after the insert comes out. It is very thin metal, so it usually just means the plate does not sit as...

Re: Bumpers and regular plates
Is it "OK" - yes. Are you going to put more stress on the bumpers - definitely. Matt's general rule is a pretty solid one, especially with 45s on the bar. With lower weights (10/15/25), you want to...

Re: Registration Fees
This is an interesting thought to me. I dislike registration fees also, but what if a gym charged a registration fee equal to one month's rate and refunded it after 6 months? Or just applied it to...

Re: Need an Equipment package for home
For home use, you should not see any deterioration in the bumpers for SEVERAL years (as long as they are decent quality - Hi-Temp, VTX, etc) regardless of whether you have a mat. I would agree that...

Re: some questions about opening a garage gym
Kristian,
A lot of questions in there, so I am going to try to comment sequentially. First, solid set of equipment to start! I am not sure how much more expensive shipping/equipment is up there,...

Re: Used Equipment Vendors for APO/FPO
David,
Just wanted to throw it out there that we are currently custom-quoting APO shipments, which means we examine each order and each product individually to find out the absolute cheapest way...

Re: Quality kettlebells on a budget
That's correct!
We recommend the OFW 'bells over the MD 'bells. They are well worth the price.
Also, Fringe (http://www.fringesport.com) WFS offers:
Free Shipping
Free Returns
365-day...

Re: Quality kettlebells on a budget
The Muscle Driver 'bells through Wayfair are definitely good kettlebells at a fair price, but they are not the only option for budget kettlebells.
As mentioned before, you can try to find some...

Re: Bumpers: Garage Gym vs. Rogue
Without links and based solely on the price difference, I would have to assume that you are comparing "economy" bumpers (Garage Gym) to "competition/elite" Oly bumpers (Rogue). If that is the case,...

Re: Bumper plate help.
45# bumper plates are back in stock in our Austin warehouse.
As for 10# bumpers vs. 15#- all else equal go with 15#s for more durability. Depending upon your use your mileage may vary.

David,
We have 10's-35# in black Troy bumpers in stock, with several tons of 45s coming in later this week. We have full stock on Hi-Temps (minus the 35s and 65s, which we don't carry) and full...

Troy VTX are definitely good; I don't have experience with the others. However, especially since you are in California, I would recommend taking the cost after shipping into account, rather than...

Re: cannot slide plates onto the bar easily
Erik,
Any idea of the brand of bar? And the plates? If they go on one side and not the other, seems the bar is the problem rather than the plates (although it could be a plate issue, just far less...
