It should work out fine IMO. Most of the strength work is done in the lower body, anyway.

Yeah, the deadlift is the only lift I have grip issues with. I just had to take my hand off once or twice throughout the sets to ease the tension on my calluses.

I'm also curious as to how much rest one should take between the sets of 12, 9, and 6, if you choose that protocol.

Same here. I use the high rep sets for each lift in that kind of fashion. I take it a little slower on the back squats, though.
