Re: Creatine absorbtion

This is what I do. I've been told acidic fruit juice isn't as effective. Couldn't tell you how much it matters though.

Re: Nothing but Squat

When I did a Smolov cycle a while ago, one of the sites where I got some of the information about it actually mentioned that most people experience other gains even while they've eliminated all other...

Re: Whole Grain? Is it healthier than not?

And here I thought it was because the stuff is so damn tasty that it's impossible not to eat the whole loaf :P (Try eating a whole loaf of 'healthy' bread......)

Re: How many calories to consume, while I eat clean to get lean!

This!

For the record, I'm 5"4.5, size 4 and I weigh 140lbs and often when I decide to plug my diet into fitday I wind up 2500-3000, but occasionally 1800ish.

I recommend logging a bit just to...

Re: Lower Fat vs Lower Carb study

IMO I think that is a reasonable generalized guideline for a healthy diet but it should only be a guideline IMO. If you are someone just looking to get a bit healthier and stronger and fitter than...

Re: Lower Fat vs Lower Carb study

When I was fat a few years ago, I got on board with a low carb high fat diet and combined with lifting weights 5x weekly and running as frequently with some WODs in there my size 16 flab melted away....

Re: My Pet Peeve as a Female

I just bought myself a 15kg women's bar and all my bumpers are in lbs so I weighed the bar. If I use collars it comes to just under 35lbs so I'm happy with that. The PRs in lbs don't have to be...

Re: Barbell pad for back squats, who does and doesnt

I only use it for hip thrusts too.

I get knots in my traps and standing up under max weights to squat actually feels really good.

I remember when I first started front squatting and my chest was so...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

1. What is your height, weight, and body fat percentage? I'm 5'4 1/2", 140 pounds. I'd guess my bf at 16-17% but I don't know for sure. I can see my abs but I have a bit softness too.
2. Are you...

Re: Games Competitors and Biceps??

I've never curled in my life but I have some bulging biceps (especially for a 39 year old woman) but I can't say specifically what I've done to train them. I've been doing Oly lifts exclusively...

Re: Your first HSPU - what was your weight/shoulder press?

I haven't tried in a while but I just did 4 with decent ROM I think, my heel against the wall, and my 1RM push press is 130lbs. I weigh about 138-140 lbs.

I'll give them another try tomorrow.

Re: Potentially stupid question...

I think for most people, getting leaner and carrying more muscle will improve looks, assuming of course a fairly athletic standard of what looks good. Not everyone shares that assumption,...

Re: You Can't Out Work a Bad Diet

I had to eat really clean to lose a bunch of fat when I was overweight and out of shape but now a few years later with a decent amount of muscle, I just can't gain strength or maintain it eating...

I also just read though this thread and was tempted to link to it on other bb forums also :D (but I didn't)

Seriously, great thread!

Re: I need article on why women should do SS

I loved SS when I started. It was simple and easy to follow and I saw improvements quickly.

It felt great to feel strong too. A lot of women don't experience that or know what they're capable of.

Re: It's time to drop teh fat bashing

Good post.

I think sometimes when overweight people complain they are just apologizing for themselves because they think/know you disapprove of them.

Since I've gotten fitter, people are...

Re: Sports, grass fields, hay fever

I have pretty severe allergies and I've been on Singulair. It is expensive if you don't have a drug plan but if it's serious you could talk to your doc about it. It isn't a mast cell stabilizer but...

Re: Female breasts and shrinkage

One of the reasons I started training was in hope of shrinking my breasts and avoiding surgery. So my breasts have shrunk significantly but still not enough for me! I'd gladly drop another cup. I...

Re: Figure Competitor turned Crossfitter

I agree with this thought too and with the others who've given a similar sentiment. I generally try to stay very lean and it is a lot of work to keep a level of leanness that where my abs are...
