Re: Garage Gym in Winter?

Burns good on the lungs...both my workout spaces are in unheated spaces and once you get warmed up it's not too bad.

Re: Rest Week

I don't take enough rest weeks, but I always come back energized and a little stronger after one. I'm personally trying to incorporate more half effort weeks into my training now so that I can...

Re: Fran... what the heck?

Could be any number of things..some days you have it, some days you don't. Last week when we did the split jerks I got 255 and it was a struggle but a few days later when we did OHS I got 270 up...

Re: Burpees on these mats?

We have a few of those ones along with the smoother ones...It's never once bothered me. I do use an abmat for situps, but for anything else it doesn't bother me.

Re: Fish Oil

The costco fish oil with the enteric coating (the one Robb Wolf recommends) has no after taste at all. I take between 12-16 pills/day and have never tasted it.

Re: Fran time limited by grip

It's from holding the bar in your hands during the thrusters and not in the proper rack. I used to have trouble closing my hands after fran but once I actually put the bar in the proper rack...

Re: Cranial pressure and pain

I just got over a battle with exertion headaches. Take some time took a week and a half for me. I massaged the back of my neck/shoulders with a tennis ball, took a crap load of fish oil,...

Re: Exertion Headache

I got the same thing from the dl/ohs wod last Friday. I think I traced it to a strain in my upper trap. I have been breaking up the knots with a golf ball/tennis ball, using a heat pad 2-3 times a...

Re: Footwear for flat feet.

I had extremely flat feet before I started CrossFit. I bought a pair of Puma H-streets and there is basically no support at all in those. My feet were tired all the time, but after a while it didnt...

Re: Any Crossfit Football Testimony?

I switched to it from mainpage for about 2 months from the beginning of November until the beginning of January. My body weight stayed fairly constant (between 210-215). My last CFT before CFFB was...

Re: Healthy weight vs. Doctors recommendations?

I'd say 180-190 would be a better range for you. I'm 5'11" and started at 256 lbs when I finally decided to get myself in shape. My lowest bw was 184 which I got to doing paleo and crossfit and I...

Re: Corner mount chin up bar

I have one that uses the same setup Beau mentions. Haven't had any issues with it yet and we have 4-5 people using it fairly regularly. I'm 215 lbs and my buddy is 225 and uses it with no problems....

Re: Floor Mats for Garage Gym

3/4 inch horse stall mats from tractor supply company work great. They are about 40 bucks for a 4' x 6' sheet

Re: Running a 10k in VFFs.

I'd say it's too soon....keep doing 400's and 800's in them a little while longer before you try the 10k. My calves were borderline injured the first time I tried it and I had blisters on my feet...

Re: Workouts with Sit-ups

Personally I only use GHD when it is specifically called for. I tried Michael and Barbara using full ROM GHD situps and decided I was never using the GHD again unless it was called for (except in...

Re: how did you find crossfit?

My buddy who trains MMA told me about it in July of 07. I looked at the website and laughed thinking their was no way in hell I could do any of that. I finally cherry picked a few WOD's and jumped...

Re: Do you do other "works" in addition to your WOD

I'm pretty strict about the 3 on 1 off schedule. I workout at work early in the day and I have 4 people come over the house in the evenings to do WOD's. I usually wind up doing some extra skill...

Re: Dont have a rower

45 pound sumo deadlift high pulls...most sub 10 high pulls for every 100 m of rowing. Rowing sucks but the sub is harder imo

Re: 3/4 Inch Rubber mat flooring

I think a jig saw would gum up pretty quickly. It's not that hard with a razor knife if you make a few passes and keep bending the mats as you go.
