Re: APFT Preparation
Fair enough. When Tim said he was going to do CF 3 on and 1 off...well, I assumed. In any case, the powerlifting on the mainsite is rather risky.
The only problem with that is you can't...

Re: APFT Preparation
I wouldn't worry too much about selecting the wrong program. She should be able to improve fast. Still, to ensure the most certain way of improving the APFT is to not make it too complicated. What I...

Re: Explain why the WOD is enough
I'm not as experienced as some other posters who are much more knowledgeable, but I think I have a good way of reasoning this. What your g/f wants from 'fitness' might be a good starting point. I...

Re: Post Ranger School
Decided to go through the thread myself. Not much specific advice on rest/recovery (they just give the vague instructions to "scale down" and "take your time". I guess you'll just have to listen to...

No personal experience, but I remember finding this thread from a while back: http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=3450&highlight=ranger+school

Re: Ok, this is pathetic...
Same thought. We can already use rings (which are cheaper and we could make ourselves if need be). The only differences seem to be that rings are cheaper and are better for muscleups.

Re: Pull-ups in daily life
This is probably way out of left field, but I have to say it.
To claim that biscep curls are more functional than pullups strikes me as claiming that biscep movements are somehow being hampered by...

Re: Deadlift and Grip Training
Thanks for all the advice. I tried applying it today.
5x135 5x225 (both overhand)
5x285 4x285 3x285 (both alternated)
Grip must have been shot from that overhand because I've been able to...

Re: Deadlift and Grip Training
Appreciate all the advice. So, what I gather is that it is best to not bother with training the grip in the beginning but that after a while it becomes necessary. OK, makes sense, but how to you...

Deadlift and Grip Training
I found that the limiting factor in my deadlift is mostly my grip. Running a search on the boards I found mostly advise on gripping styles, but using the highly advised alternating grip I still find...

Thanks, that seems to be a good middle ground for what I'm after. I'll give it a shot if I can't figure anything elsed out.

I thank you for that, however, the difficulty is more deciding what are reasonable goals to reach for rather than what is the best way of reaching goals I already have in place. I can draw up a...

crossfit and strength
I'm wondering what kind of strength increases you can get from crossfit. I like the idea of crossfit, because I have a broad, almost "wish list like", range of goals, but right now I realize I'm most...

RX'd
Just a short, uninteresting question. What does "RX'd" stand for? I'm learning to interpret sentences containing it, but I was just curious.

Re: 400m time guidelines
Just curious how everyone is thinking. For those who posted times, are you talking about a 400 just once or a 400 as part of a METCON or track athlete's intervals workout?

Usually asleep sometime slightly before or after 12. Get up at around 6.
I'm having a difficult time believing Corey. How could you live like that long term?

Yeah, I'd do that but it's really a faculty sponsored event that attracts a mob of people. I really don't want to show up and start tapping people on the shoulder saying, "there's something better...
