Re: Ugly 2.5x BW deadlift

You should feel good about that, I've seen way worse. 400 at 156 is a good lift, I don't care how it looks.

Re: Deadlift for Sprinting Article - and a question

I don't appreciate you insulting my intelligence. I think you don't understand sprinting. I also think you have poor reading comprehension as that was a quote about powerlifts and was not my...

Re: Deadlift for Sprinting Article - and a question

We did lots of romanian deadlifts as a finisher/accessory lift in college. I like those and straight legs a lot for sprint related work, I just think that you can pull a lot of weight with...

Re: Normal or freak of nature?

The squat still isn't that nutty to me b/c he gained freaking 30lbs of muscle. I don't think that is that out of line honestly. I've had a decent number of surgeries over the years and I'm always...

Re: Fitness Goals for 2010?

So here we go upon further review:

At a bodyweight of 230lbs:

Bench press (close grip) 360lbs
Squat 600 with just breifs on (I've pulled my groin too many times to not wear them)
Run a 57 sec 400...

Re: Deadlift for Sprinting Article - and a question

In detail:

The article uses Allison Felix as his prime example touting it must be the end all be all b/c she made these accomplishments while on this program. He states she and others made gains...

Re: Deadlift for Sprinting Article - and a question

I read that article a long time ago and at the time I didn't agree with it in principle. I think you could get Allison Felix to do about any weight workout and it would be sufficient for her, she is...

Re: Fitness Goals for 2010?

I appreciate the feedback, I guess I was looking more for goals type ideas than how to's. As far as the how long to put in, I've been there done that in track and lifting, I'm now trying to find a...

Re: Fitness Goals for 2010?

I'm having such a difficult time with this right now. I hit a new PR in the DL in April and wanted to bust a new one but I find that grinding strength training to be as absolutely strong as possible...

Re: Introducing CrossFit to an Athlete

I was a 200/400 runner in college and 4x100/ 300m hurdles runner in HS and CrossFit is not what he needs to be doing at all. Plyometrics, pure speed work, olympic lifting and squats are the off...

Re: A man of strength's man!

WFS- I like this one a lot, 440lb push press triple. He's wearing a belt though so it doesn't count :p

most fit athlete

That top ten sports list prompted me to put this question on another board and I figure I'd pose it here. Who would you say is the most fit athlete ever out there? Like I said on the top ten sports...

Re: Expendables Workout - Terry Crews

Again, IMHO, functional equals what can you testably do as a result of your training? And who can fry on the ground like bacon the longest isn't a acceptable test. I bet he could do some pretty...

Re: How to work up to Sprinting?

Start off by jogging 800m. Do 10m of walking horse drills for reps after that. After that do several rounds of slower high knees. Karioke for 25 m twice on each side. Now go to high knees faster...

Re: Top 10 Sports with the Fittest Athletes

I quoted you because I saw you agreed with me and was more using that as a sounding board to start my post with.

Part of my issue with some of the CF workout metcons is that I see them having no...

Re: Top 10 Sports with the Fittest Athletes

See, this is what I have a hard time with on this board as far as the concept of "fit" is concerned. To me, there has got to be measurable performance standards involved in the discussion. While I...

Re: Top 10 Sports with the Fittest Athletes

The whole 5k thing to me is relative. Comparing the top CF guys to the T&F guys in that they don't look good. IMO it's more could you do this if you had to. A few strongmen could, most couldn't. ...

Re: 400m metcons

Are you using the PVC pipe on all those movements with no weight? It also seems like you've got them going easiest to hardest in some of the orders?

Re: When to stop increasing weight on squats, deadlifts, bench, etc?

That's impressive that you are hitting 205 on the snatch against 365*5 in the squat.

Re: When to stop increasing weight on squats, deadlifts, bench, etc?

That to me is the deal with getting stronger as I alluded to earlier. At some point it cuts against everything else you're doing. I think you can continue to be fast and explosive at higher...

Re: 400m metcons

Currently conditioning is my weakness, that's why I'm wanting to do this as a routine workout. My lifts are more than fine, my wind isn't though.

10 rounds of 800/25 squats in 38:40 is pretty...

Re: WOD's, what's good and how do you know?

The ones that are based around a weight I normally do well in. The main problem I have is getting gassed. I assume scaling down the amount of reps of a certain exercise is acceptable? For...

WOD's, what's good and how do you know?

Ok, so I'm doing these WOD's as they complement my program, and it's hard for me to tell what is good on them. For instance, I did a WOD in 9mins exact that I saw Graham Holmberg had done in 3:57 I...

Re: Old, beat up and trying to increase my fitness

Narrow grip bench: 225*10, 247.5*8, 247.5*5 (my heart wasn't in the last set)
Incline dumbbell flies: I know an isolation exercise stabs the heart of crossfit, but I've got some pec/shoulder issues...

Re: 400m metcons

Just to get into better shape. I really beat myself up over the past 10 years and right now I just want to maintain some decent lifts while staying lean and being healthy. I like track work, and I...
