Re: The Price of CF

You need to read my post again. I never said "affiliates should adopt a different model." I stated what the current model is, why it's not satisfactory for myself and others, and what would have to...

Re: The Price of CF

I've been in these "why is CF so expensive?" threads a million times. I know why the business model works, and I know why people choose to spend their money like this. I don't need to make a new...

Re: The Price of CF

Most CF gyms cost upwards of $150/mo for unlimited classes.

The pricing would be less ridiculous if you were allowed to program your own workouts and stay for as long as necessary. I'm not going to...

I don't think you understood his point.

Re: Trying to lean down but at a standstill...

Just to throw my experience in, I agree with Zach. I've had some good results from carb backloading. I go low-carb until 6pm or so when I'm on my way to the gym. Then I have a whole bunch of carbs...

Re: Running a co-op in a storage facility? (Houston)

There are good-sized storage units that go for about $150/month. Between 3 people, that's $50-$60 a month. So:

Storage Unit Gym:
$50-$60/month
Come in to workout whenever
Get to workout however you...

Running a co-op in a storage facility? (Houston)

My friend and I are done with college, and our university gym memberships expire on August 15. I'm thinking about where I'm going to workout next, but the only places in Houston I can find are LA...

Re: Belts...

I agree. Too often people get too caught up in things like asking questions to better understand something.

"I saw someone using a thumbless grip on the bench press today. Is there a reason to do...

Acute Head Pain

During a metcon yesterday, I got a sharp pain in my neck around where the neck and head meet. It was inside the neck and on the left half. Within the next minute or so, the pain moved up the back of...

Re: Gymnastics Bodyweight Strength Challenge

There's a difference between working towards a goal and claiming that it's a reality. CFers are chomping at the bit to become as the quote says but it doesn't mean they believe it's true. The smart...

Weapons-grade narcissism.

Yes, we're all very impressed by you. Is this why you're here?

Protip: You don't have to be a crossfitter to post here, but I think it'd be...

Re: 2010 CF Games Event Spitballing!

Long-distance is good but the goal I'm going for is to adequately test both the glycolytic and oxidative pathways in one event. It's also important to keep the distance low so athletes can adequately...

Re: 2010 CF Games Event Spitballing!

If CF is ever going to become a legitimate sport, the events at the Games will have to become standardized. Even if it's not the same events each year, the pool of possible events should be...

Re: Buddy does not buy into Front Squats

I don't think this is a good idea. The Front Squat is an important movement to learn since it serves as a gateway to other exercises that are important to a crossfitter, the Clean and the Thruster....

Re: What to sub for 2k row?

If you're a light guy (under 160) I would run 2K.

If you're a heavy guy (above 180) I would run a mile (1600m).

If you're somewhere in-between then something in the middle I guess.

Re: Swiss Ball Squats

You pretty much just repeated Jamie's argument, ignoring my objection.

To balance on a swiss ball in the way we're discussing, the ball CANNOT MOVE AWAY. If the ball rolls in a direction then you...

Re: Swiss Ball Squats

Alright, let's talk about mechanical differences.

On a slackline, if you move your center of gravity so it's no longer over the line, then the line moves. If you don't make an effort to correct your...

Re: Squat, Deadlift, and Power Clean Form Check

Uh, I disagree. His knees look fine. Your shins are not going to stay perpendicular to the floor, that's just impossible.

Take a look at Rip's knees: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVKEl4Wxoqc (wfs)
