Coming back from back strain

I strained my back pretty bad at the beginning of August doing deadlifts, and I'm worried about putting them back into my program.

It's been just over a month and a half, and I've started lifting...

Re: Paleo and constant hunger?

Track your caloric intake on FitDay or something like that, to make sure you're hitting your caloric intake and macro needs day in and day out.

I agree with everyone else who says it's probably...

Re: Has anyone here tried the Reverse Pyramid method?

Sorry I'm just getting to this now, it's been one of those weeks.

For the accessory lifts, pick one and work it 4-6 weeks, and use the same rep scheme. RPT is really big on tracking progress, and...

Re: Has anyone here tried the Reverse Pyramid method?

I use RPT for the core lifts (squat, dead, press, bench, chins) during the week, and then sprinkle in a CF workout once or twice a week.

I've seen really good gains using it.

Re: Frying in butter

Hmmm -- frying bacon in butter. Haven't thought of that, but I'll be trying it tonight.

I usually just cook my eggs in the bacon grease to soak it all up. Good Lord that's good stuff.

Re: Nitrate free bacon

Check Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. They usually have it.

Re: how to make coconut oil enjoyable to eat

Remove cap. Scoop with a spoon. Put in mouth.

That's the best way I enjoy coconut oil. Also, drizzle it on some fruit.

Re: Need Some Paleo/Crossfit Advice

Samuel -- just to throw my two cents in here, if I could go back to the time I was 18 and dieting the way I did, I'd change things DRAMATICALLY.

I'm naturally a lean person, and definitely don't...

Re: Dietary Confessions of a Crossfitter

I ate an entire medium pizza. I hadn't had pizza in over a year, and man, did it taste good.

I have a feeling the WOD is going to hurt today.

Re: Thoughts on Gatorade G Series?

Gatorade is good for one thing: hydration during a hangover.

Re: "Cheat" Meal

It depends on what kind of cheat day it is. Sometimes it'll involve a whole chicken, about a half a pound of flank steak, a whole avocado, and a gigantic bowl of blueberries/blackberries/cherries....

Re: What high fat foods are you eating

Avocadoes, olive oil, coconut oil, walnuts, almonds, almond butter, coconut milk, lard, tallow, and bacon fat is what I use regularly. And that doesn't include the fatty cuts of grass-fed meat....

Re: Joining a CF Affiliate on School Loans

Again, thanks for the responses, guys. I'll keep doing what I've been doing.

On another note -- anybody have any suggestions on where to get grass-fed beef in Miami? I've done some research on a...

Re: Joining a CF Affiliate on School Loans

Sorry, just to clarify, I won't be using the funds I receive from the government/banks to pay a monthly membership -- it'll be the money I've saved thus far this summer working as an intern.

Sean...

Joining a CF Affiliate on School Loans

Is it doable?

I'm heading down to the University of Miami in the fall for law school. I've been CrossFitting for about two years, but it's been on my own at gyms in DC and Boston...I've never...

Re: Paleo for College Student

I'd get my own mini fridge, first off. I know that you want to save space, and that you and your roommate will keep a fridge for drinks/water/beer/mixers -- that's fine, use that one for whatever....

Re: What excercise makes you puke everytime?

Never puked, and I agree that it's bad form if you're doing it -- especially if it's a regular part of your post-workout plan.

Some workouts will make me pretty dizzy, and I know I've pushed it to...

Midback Rounding in Deadlift

Hi All --

I've been focusing on form these past few weeks on my lifts, and noticed that when I deadlift heavy, my mid-back rounds a little bit on the pull. My lower back is maintaining...

Re: Lara Bars

Have you tried sticking them in the fridge/freezer after making them? That seems like it would help the consistency considerably.

Re: whole milk, whole eggs

First off, when you refer to "back then", what time frame are you talking? The 50s and 60s? Or thousands of years ago?

If it's the 1950s, I'd argue that our culture is far less healthier than it...

Re: Skin care?

If I'm out in the sun all day, I'll go about an hour without sun screen, and then apply SPF 4 for the rest of the day -- usually needs one application, more if I do a lot of sweating/swimming.

So...
