Re: An Effective, Yet Simple Strength and Conditioning Program

Thanks for the replies. It felt like a shame to leave so much effort still in the gym, so to speak.

Re: An Effective, Yet Simple Strength and Conditioning Program

Ok, so in all likelihood I'm about to be one of those guys that needs to stop messing with the program. BUT, after a reset on the bench, it's really tempting to do max reps to failure on the last...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Seen today:

Me officially getting tired of unwittingly getting drawn into squatting conversations with people who have never heard of a low bar back squat (which I'm sure is every single person at...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

There is a second video with that guy in it. It says he is a "trainer and nutritionist promoting steroid free weight training"... at least he's keeping the kids clean?

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Never seen this before, but I saw this guy grab 5lb dumbbells and proceeds to do 1cm bicep curls. He essentially made his arms spasm ten times, and then proceeded to do the same technique to hit the...

Re: Using Vibram 5 fingers

Today I practiced POSE running on the treadmill and my feet (on top near the ankle) were hurting after just a quarter mile.

I've experienced no pain on land.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm pretty sure your entire post was about you doing things other than "getting to work" ;).

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Hold on, are you saying they checked their weight multiple times mid-workout? You should have asked them how many pounds of fat those bicep curls burned off.

Re: Vacation equipment (what would you take)

I'm going out to the desert, so there's not even a tree branch to hang rings from. There's a globo there but I don't really want to spend $10 per visit. I'm debating just making it my "rest week".

Re: Classic Rip (collection of quotes, many hilarious, many NOT w/f/s)

A guy posting a squat form check video:

"Also - since this is my first actual post and I have no history here I've attached an image of the books / dvd so you know I'm not BSing and take this...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I talked to this nice guy for a while about VFFs. He then let me know how concerned he was that I wasn't squatting completely vertical. I've read the squat chapter of SS but I couldn't remember...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Not sure who this Capt. Underpants character is. The belt around the head is the key. Someone in their 20's will have to help me out ;)

How about underwear over his shorts and a belt around his head?

Re: An Effective, Yet Simple Strength and Conditioning Program

5lb jumps. My gym doesn't have smaller plates than 2.5's. I think I'll look into buying a pair of 1.25lb plates for myself.

Re: An Effective, Yet Simple Strength and Conditioning Program

That's certainly a possibility. After failing on the last rep of the first set, I did the last two sets five pounds lighter at the previous week's weight.

Assuming I did start too high, would you...

Re: Beginner without a Crossfit Gym

If you buy a very minimal amount of equipment there should be plenty of WODs you can do at home, cutting down on the number of days you have to go to the gym.

I have a pullup bar, kettlebell, and a...

Re: An Effective, Yet Simple Strength and Conditioning Program

I'm only on my third week and I failed with the weight increase on the bench. :(

I'm hoping it's because I just got back from a conference with long days and little sleep.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

There's this one guy at my gym that would assume the "Superman Pose" (fists on hips....wide stance) butt naked while using the urinal.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Do you also get the people that "work out" in what could be casual office attire?

Baseball hats in the gym also bug me.
