Re: CHEAP Bumpers-Any Good???

Thanks Paul.

Good price. I wonder if dealers like The Kettlebell King will include the colored bumpers in a package.

I can vouch for the quality of the Rogue Bar. I actually just ordered my...

Re: CHEAP Bumpers-Any Good???

Paul,

I looked on the Troy Barbell site and couldn't find any information on the colored bumpers.

Are there any pictures of the new bumpers?
How will they be priced in comarison to the black...

Re: Weird question, but BIG problem

My advice - Get a push broom and a small vac with a hose you can carry around to get the bad spots. Much cheaper and works just as well as any upright vac in my opinion.

Re: Thinking about getting NSCA certification

Kyle,

I haven't taken the CPT, but I would guarantee it is much easier than the CSCS. I'm not saying the CSCS is overly difficult, but I believe the CPT is more on par with other "personal trainer"...

C2 Model D On Craigslist

While perusing over lunch I found the listing below. It sounds too good to be true, and the information looks like it was just copied from the manufacturer, but for anyone in central IL this may be...

Sand Bag Question

Has anyone tried to make sandbags out of waterproof military bags? I haven't seen these, but here is a quick description. The person is asking $6 per bag. Seems like a much cheaper option than...

Re: Training Somebody with Hip Bursitis

I'm not a doctor, but my MD diagnosed me with trochanteric bursitis using a similar test - looking for point tenderness, asking about the pain, and going through a few ROM movements. I don't think...

Re: Trochanteric Bursitis

Thanks for the input, guys.

I should have mentioned that the pain was on and off for a couple of years before I actually had it diagnosed as bursitis. This is why I'm beginning to wonder if it will...

Trochanteric Bursitis

I was diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis two months ago and have since been seeing a PT for a little over a month. So far the treatment has been stretching, deep tissue massage, ultrasound, and IT...

Re: Anyone taken the ACSM - HFS certification test?

It's been a long time since I took the HFI and CSCS, so take my advice with that in mind.

The ACSM study kit is $125 and the metabolic calculations book is $31. The calculations book is optional...

Re: Weighted Vest

Glenn,

Sears carries a 20 lb. vest (adjustable) by Nordic Track. I just bought one this weekend on sale for $38, but haven't used it yet so I can't give any review. You can also order it directly...

Re: What exercises aren't part of crossfit programming, but you think should be?

- Laterally pushing a plate across the ground using the side of the foot
- Isometrically holding weights with arms extended to sides, parallel to ground

Re: What exercises aren't part of crossfit programming, but you think should be?

Any focused movements through the frontal plane seem to be ignored. Sliding movements (basketball defensive slides come to mind) could easily be done in a small or large space. Weighted exercises...

What type of harness/belt are most people using to pull sleds and tires?

Has anyone tried a deer-pull harness? They are only around $20 from Cabelas or other hunting suppliers (much cheaper than...

Re: Substitution - Olympic Lifts?

Mark,

My wife doesn't have much interest in learning O-lifts (yet), so I have her substitute supersets of box jumps and kettlebell swings when cleans are in the prescribed workout. It's not a...

Re: So I started my ACE personal fitness trainer class today...

It sounds like the fire dept needs to review their creditials. Personally, I can't think of any time when ACE was considered one of the top 3 certifications. This isn't a blanket statement...

Re: What to use for self massage?

6 in x 3 ft foam roller - A great investment that is extremely versatile. It kills you the first week (in a good way), but then your tissue adapts and it becomes a more comfortable massage tool. ...
