Brazilian jiu-jitsu or wrestling.

If you don't want to do that my favorites are rope climbs , pullup bar hangs, high rep kettlebell swings, snatches or cleans

Re: Paleo needs a new name

I've known all along the paleo diet was bs. Paleolithic man did not eat bacon and almond butter lol. He did kill saber tooth tigers and wooly mammoths, neither of which we have today. And there is...

Re: Jacobs ladder

Sounds right . lol. I would say its like a hybrid of a versaclimber and airdyne. Human powered, the faster you climb the faster and harder it gets. I'm surprised we haven't seen one in the games. It...

Jacobs ladder

Anybody use this machine before? We got one at my fire station and I tried it the first time for a 5 minute test. Got 451 steps. This thing was humbling . it totally smoked my legs.

Re: Christmas Abbott Seminar

That is a pet peeve of mine as well. We have a bodybuilder at my gym that trains athletes for sports performance with no other qualifications other than the fact that he's jacked. He runs these guys...

Re: Chimp strength

That's like old man strength plus farmer strength. Lol. So the question is, what is the best way to train the grip to get that kind of strength??? Sub maximal grip work every day would seem to be...

Re: Simple and sinister

There's the problem. What you did there doesn't even remotely resemble 5/3/1.

Re: Simple and sinister

5/3/1 worked great for me. It was the strongest I had ever been... on those lifts. I just found that increasing strength in those lifts wasn't beneficial for me in.

It took too much out of my...

Re: Simple and sinister

I think it would be beneficial for one who is hoping to increase his grip and hamstring strength, his hip hinge pattern, and explosiveness. But of coarse the best route to raw strength and absolute...

Re: Chimp strength

Yes. I've been grappling 7 years so I have a good amount of this functional strength but I've also changed my physical training to things like KB swings, TGUs, suitcase and farmers carries, pullups,...

Re: Simple and sinister

What is your diet like? That has a huge impact on body comp changes. Also, why american swings? Most of these high rep swing programs are designed for Russian swings.

Re: Chimp strength

Good reasoning Chris. The other think I've noticed is of all the guys I grapple with the strongest ones are always the guys that work construction, not the guys that lift weights.

Re: Simple and sinister

I've only been doing the S&S program. 100 swings 10 TGU 3x a week plus calisthenics and my martial arts training, and I've already leaned out quite a bit.

Re: Knee crunching with straight feet in squat

Thanks guys. I will try those things. Every Olympic lifter on google images has their feet turned out. I think it's bogus too.

I noticed my squat is much better with a lift under my heel

Re: How far do you drive to the box?

I don't train at a box but I drive 45 minutes 1 way to my jiujitsu gym. And I go 4-5 days a week. About once a month I drive 3 hours one way to our main gym. It's a sacrifice but nothing good is ever...

Nic, thanks for the tips.

I have indeed lost size but bodyfat as well. I feel that my relative strength is better. Which is better for my sport (bjj). Heavy weights had me around 215 lbs. in a...

Re: How to grip a pull up bar?

Nic, it would still be external rotation. Think of the humerus as a cylinder. If it is corkscrewed clockwise it is externally rotating, regardless of wether or not the arm is extended overhead or...
