Re: Paleo Diet and Crohn's Disease/ Colitis

Potatoes and dairy protein could be very problematic. They would be for me anyway.. When I was really bad I lived on mashed bananas...

Re: Paleo Diet and Crohn's Disease/ Colitis

Definitely try cooking them really well. I can't do any raw veg really and berries don't work great unless they're in smoothies.

This might give you some encouragement to hang in - it DOES get...

Re: Paleo Diet and Crohn's Disease/ Colitis

One suggestion is to avoid raw fruits and veggies for the most part. Even mostly healed, I still do best on raw fruit smoothies and cooked vegetables. Also, things like broccoli don't digest well for...

Re: Paleo Diet and Crohn's Disease/ Colitis

Alex,

I'd definitely recommend Paleo for IBD. I overcame colitis with the diet.

I'd recommend staying away from dairy though. Many swear by raw yogurt and kefir - and they can be helpful and...

Re: The Paleo Dieter's Missing Link

Thanks, Joe! That means a lot! I really TRIED to make it different than all the others. I thought there was a lack of certain types of information in the Paleo community and made it a point to fill...

Re: The Paleo Dieter's Missing Link

Hey Joe,

Definitely NOT a rehash. It's probably the most even and eclectic treatment of Paleo out there right now. My point in writing the book was to cover the stuff the other books don't.

Here's...

Re: Paleo Book recommendations?

Pollan has some good stuff. Somewhat OT but check out the DVD Food, Inc. for a look into what really goes into conventional foods. Good motivation for going Paleo!

Re: Paleo Book recommendations?

Cordain, Wolf and Sisson are the really good ones. Avoid Cordain's "Paleo Diet for Athletes." Just get his original.

I also have a FREE and SHORT eBook on my site. It'll get you up and running...

Re: Microwave: Good or bad?

BTW, I think the Europeans are really anti-microwave. If someone really cared they could probably look for non-US data on them...

Re: Microwave: Good or bad?

I've avoided microwave cooking for YEARS now. I used to just figure they were no big deal, but in "You Are What You Eat" by Paul Chek he actually tells a story about how he was traveling and eating...

Re: Paleo Diet Reviewed

Drew,

I think you need to realize that your post and the way you went about it - not to mention the tone of your writing - screams AGENDA. I don't know any CrossFitter who would do a post like that...

Re: We All Have Eating Disorders :-P

Bo, what "scared" and angered me was that they're taking a truly real disorder and implying that cutting out sugar or wheat from your diet indicates that you could have the disorder. Almost like...

Challenges on the Paleo Diet...

I probably think too much, but I was curious: What is the biggest challenge you've faced on going Paleo and making it work?

My biggest one was staying 100% strict with NO cheating. I have to say,...

Re: Paleo Diet Reviewed

I think the "experts" on the diet are those of us who have been DOING the diet and thriving on it. Like all things CrossFit, most of the information is empirical.

The science can be debated back and...

Re: Quinoa?

Robb Wolf recently (Paleolithic Solution #33) said that there are some gut-damaging properties of Quinoa. Listen to that podcast to get the scoop.

Re: Paleo Poop?

I do all sorts of greens in the smoothies. I actually try to rotate them so I get different nutrients. Good greens are:

Kale
Chard
Dandelion Greens
Spinach
Beet Greens
Lettuce
Bok Choy
Collard Greens

Re: Paleo Poop?

There's actually a lot of stuff you can look at here...

First off, you need to look at fatigue and overtraining. I find that if I REALLY get myself in deep with too much training I'll get some...

Re: Carb Loading Pre-workout

I know everyone else on here has said carb loading is completely unnecessary but there are a few things I played with a while back that might be worth looking at.

My best training time is in the...

Re: Little advice?

Chris,

I think you have a few things going on here. My gut tells me you are probably both under-eating AND overtraining. For better or worse, I had a long history in bodybuilding before I came to...
