Re: THE SEVEN workout

Where do you stand??

Well it depends. Was the workout effective for you? Did you feel you benefitted from it?

If the answers are 'YES' then you stand in good stead.

If you are asking how you rate...

Re: Is crossfit good for aesthetics?

THAT is what is a little sad. That people don't seem interested in the functionality of fitness, they only seem want to "look awesome". If looking good is a by-product of achieving some actual goal...

Re: Is crossfit good for aesthetics?

Every single person who enters a gym, any gym, or works out is motivated by aesthetics to some degree.

At least you are open and honest about what motivates you... I find it a little sad, but you...

Re: Pronated or supinated grip best to progress to MU?

Mate, I'm no expert, but have recently taught myself how to do bar muscle ups.

I can say the pronated grip is the way to go. I would also suggest that as well as learning chest to bar pull ups, try...

Re: Why no 'unorthodox' equipment in WODS?

Yeah I'm hearing what you guys are saying, you want to appeal to the largest audience possible & use standardised equipment.

Yeah there is rope climbing... but I also don't believe too many...

Re: Whats the hardest WOD?

I once did "Curtis P go to hell" taken from Military Athlete.

It's 100 reps of Hang squat clean into racked lunge left then right into push press @ 55% BW

I did it at 50% and it was just horrible!...

Re: Warm Ups

I sometimes will bear walk/crab walk for 100 to 120 meters total (with breaks). Forward, back wards, left/right.

For a heavy day I like to do the bar complex:
6 reps of:
Dead lift - SDHP - Power...

Why no 'unorthodox' equipment in WODS?

Not sure if this is either in the correct section or if it has been discussed before... appologies in advance if that is the case.

However I'm just wondering why the official WODS never use...

Re: Your top superstition?

Before any motorbike ride I have to put my left glove on before my right.

I'm often the same with putting a left boot on first too... although not necessarily for riding and only with boots, not...

Re: Flexband substitue

Have had the same revelation here as well... and they come in different sizes, strengths/resistance levels! Road tubes are very thin and offer the least resistance, right up to big downhill tubes...

Re: powerbands for pull ups

I dunno if this will help or not, but I just use bike tyre inner tubes for my flatmate who is struggling to get pull-ups down. They are dirt cheap and you can get them in different thicknesses...

Re: Gymnastics Bodies WOD

This site looks pretty cool, but it also looks like you HAVE to purchase the book in order to make heads or tails of the WoDs. I had a look at a couple of them and couldn't find any explanations of...

Re: Too ugly for a real avatar!

Well from that small pic it looks pretty cool... plus I'm thinking about learning to ride a motorcycle so I tend to take notice of such pics :)

Too ugly for a real avatar!

More and more I find avatars of people's actual photos on here and everyone is so damned good looking! Ok we're a fitness site, but sheesh I didn't think EVERYONE would be so ripped and awesome...

Re: Lactic acid and tabatas

I'm glad this thread came up. I think I have been doing the Tabata workouts incorrectly. I DON'T go all out each set but strive to do the same number of reps each set and if I have enough left inthe...

Re: Krav maga or Jiu-Jistu: which should I take?

We spell our's "Jiu Jitsu", the "i" in Jiu is, apparently, making a reference to the (small) Chinese influence our style has. We're not portugese. Different places/people will take different slants...

Re: hammerfist for kids

Patrick: That sounds fair enough, but it also sounds like he learnt to do that from actual training and not just learning to thonk someone with a hammerfist... he did afterall take him to the ground,...

Re: consistently to sore to workout

In my pre-koolaid days, I believe I was reasonably fit, but when I started crossfit I was also sore every day for over a month at least. Then you get to the point where you pretty much never get sore...

Re: Did Fran use to use a different weight for thrusters?

Personally I think ALL WoDs that use weights should be based on bodyweight percentages, wouldn't it put everyone on a more even playing field??

Re: How strong is strong enough?

I agree, which was kinda my point to begin with... I mean you would expect we would reach a level of strength where more isn't really going to help us do other things more. Of course this will vary...

Re: How strong is strong enough?

Wow all really good posts, thanks all! I was a bit worried the vagueness of my question would just get this thread ignored hehe.

So the standard answer seems to be "get as strong as you can without...

Re: Quick questions about CF

Hey Ryan,

Welcome aboard. While I may not be the best person to lend advice, I can throw in my .02c worth.

There is some methodology to the WODs, I can't remember what exactly the formula is, but I...

How strong is strong enough?

I recently got into an argument on youtube with a guy rubbishing crossfit. He was essentially saying we are all weenies because we aren't powerlifters... now I don't have to point out the flaws in...
