Re: The buzzword of the day, mobility, do you need to work on it?

I have found that IF a mobility exercise is effective that improvement can be measured pretty much immediately. If you have to wait a couple of days the movement isn't appropriate.

I don't often...

Re: The buzzword of the day, mobility, do you need to work on it?

I hate the hypermobile. Some of us can't hold our arms over ours heads, rack a barbell or sit in a squat position without tipping over. Lower-Crossed, chronic tendinosis, head held forward and...

Re: Progenex worth the price?

Real food is cheaper and better. Unless you are injecting a silly amount of anabolic steroids a healthy diet will provide all the protein availability for muscle repair/creation and optimal...

Re: Need Help with purchasing a concept II rower

I've been on the lookout for a fair price on a used C2 in my neck of the woods for a couple of years.

Nothing... I envy you guys. On the plus side with the new Dynamic Rower seems to have taken...

Re: No Room for a Rack? Not anymore!

Sometimes Crossfit is as bad a triathlon. Everyone sees a community with too much disposable income and jumps in with gadgets and supplements. Maybe I can start selling Crossfit Protein Powder. ...

Re: No Room for a Rack? Not anymore!

No but cement pails are cheap and can be dragged into the back yard on a sunny day. $500 worth of steel on a hinge that provides the equivalent of $20 worth of functionality just doesn't stand out...

Re: Are You a Supple Leopard Yet??

I'm sure the pictures and exercise selection will be good. I'm looking forward to a review of the writing. Starret's verbal communication skills are not his area of strength. I'm kind of hoping...

Re: No Room for a Rack? Not anymore!

All these replace is a simple pair of squat stands. Not portable and a fair bit of set up for limited functionality. No way of setting up bands for accommodating resistance or pins for partial...

Re: Sled Pulling

Sleds work. 4-6 weeks of 3 a week sled work is a wonderful way of driving your conditioning up to another level. The nice part is that a loaded sled is easy on the joints and you can dig deep...

Re: Marathon training 'the right way'

Completing a marathon and racing a marathon are entirely different things. If you can race a 5k then add a bit of distance to your long runs isn't much of a stretch.

If you can race a marathon...

Re: 5x5 + Running + Swimming

The idea that calisthenics can provide progressive strength development is wonderfully naive. In order to become stronger one needs to increase the weight. No matter how many deep knee bends you...

Re: Got used to PVC pipe roller anything to take it to the next level?

If you've got no pain or discomfort w/ the pvc pipe have you considered that you simply don't need to do any more rolling ... or if you do that you might have to explore real myofascial release/art...

Re: 5x5 + Running + Swimming

I think the answer is "it depends".

Bill Starr's 5x5 is a sport strength training program. This presumes a sport.
If you are mid-season in your sport you probably won't be emphasizing strength but...

Re: Dry erase board in Canada

You can also use a paint that support dry erase markers and simply turn your wall into a writing board.

Re: Custom Oly Platforms

3/4" Plywood, 4x6 3/4" horse mats, your favourite stencil, stain/urethane although I haven't bothered to seal my top piece. 3 layers thick makes for a pretty robust platform especially if it's...

Re: DIY Prowler Sled

The pricing on the SKLZ is awfully tempting. It might be worth the trip to the border.

Re: $600 budget for barbell, what to get?

DHS competition is an 1100 bar plus shipping. The York Competition Elite is about 550 delivered. Not in the same time zone for a needle bearing bar.

Re: $600 budget for barbell, what to get?

It depends which bar you buy. The competition bars are no different than they ever have been. Their cheap consumer bars are cheap consumer bars.

Re: DIY Prowler Sled

Interesting how many negative statements there are on a perfectly functional inexpensive piece of kit.

Re: First time Making an Atlas Stone

A masonry vibrator would be overkill for this one you would just end up bringing the water to the surface and killing your mix. Fill slowly, slosh it around, bang it from the outside with a rubber...

Bad Case of Tight ***

Piriformis tightness has been a pain in my A** for quite a while. A return to running combined with some reverse lunges has given me a distinct twinge.

I likely pulled something a few years back...

Re: Buyer Beware: Wright Rubber

Re: Sawhorses for spotter racks - experiences?

Try a free spotter. I've used one in my basement gym for almost 2 years and it removes the need for a lift off in the bench and allows safe squatting to pretty much an elite level.

What it does,...
