Re: Power Clean vs. Squat Clean

I see how lift a heavy weight off the floor into a power clean catch is "explosive." And so training PC's would develop "explosiveness." OK, but aggressively pulling oneself (FAST) underneath a bar...

Re: Max/Rep/Conversion Calculator

Hi Cory,

Your spreadsheets for Max lifts and the Benchmark WOD's sound really great. I know I am jumping on pretty late but, if you have the time, I would love a copy. I'm at gpitluck@yahoo.com, if...

Re: Do people actually get denied for Affiliation?

Neil,

Yes, this thread has definitely morphed. I want to resurrect the question that emerged, "what are some potential factors that could result in a denial?" In reading all nine pages (aren't we...

Re: I See Old People

I didn't miss that they wrote down your weight incorrectly. Nor did I combine anything with your corrected bf %. I don't actually understand how they arrived at it. It's been many years since I've...

Re: I See Old People

Way to go, Nancy! Always pays to double-check. But I must confess to being a bit confused.

Seems to me, if they measured 49.25 kg of LBM, then they would think you were 73.5% LBM if they thought you...

Re: I See Old People

Nancy,

Thanks, that avatar is a reminder to me that I WILL definitely get myself a muscle-up one day. And that form isn't everything, lol.

I'll bet your BF % is a pleasant surprise. CF has sure...

Re: I See Old People

Great thread! Lots of inspiration and heart here. (Not to mention understatement and civility, both of which come with maturity...lol)
I keep meaning to post on these "older" threads, so I guess...

Re: Heart Rate Recovery

Dan - Sounds like a great way to measure your CV progress ..<"from an all-out effort for a certain amount of time"> I agree HRR is key.

Christian - I'm impressed. You defined that function very...

Re: Heart Rate Recovery

True, Christian, things rarely are. And yes, I was thinking of comparing maximal efforts of both shorter and longer time periods.

When I used to do longer, 20 mile+ Saturdays, my training pace was...

Re: Heart Rate Recovery

Interesting post. As an aside, I think the HRR time would be a function of how long one's HR has been elevated. A 400m will come down quicker than a 10k, with less of an oxygen debt to make up, no?

Re: Wall Ball

Jayson,

Great price (and shipping!) on the Title medicine balls. But their ad says "no more big, bulky awkward balls", and part of what I like about Dynamax balls is their big, bulky, awkward size....

Thanks, Brandon, great thread! Greg's post does indeed demystify the apparent contradiction.

Good Roman Chair for Situps/Back Extensions

I really like my GHD by Equipment Guys in Ohio. Built to last, comfortable and just right for GH raises. But I have to admit, while I have put a little effort into developing my GH Raise, 99% of mine...

I have the same issues with wrist flexibility in the rack position. However, I have seen gradual improvement. I used to have to do front squats and cleans with lifting gloves that have a support...

David, Good points. As in Fiddler on the Roof, "You know, you are right too!"
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go eat some more chocolate. (with Gatorade, of course)

Re: Extreme pull ups and pusshups

Ok, I couldn't resist putting my 2 cents...For the record, yes I am impressed with the Bartendaz video. And even more impressed with the Cirque de Soleil clip. Whew! Clearly a higher level of skill....
