Re: Paleo Dog Food

We feed Ozzy Orijen or Evo - no grain, they are usually 80% meat, 20% vegetables or something. I have a feeling it might contain some dairy though as I recall seeing cottage cheese on a label once....

Re: Not enough calories?

snakes are fine to eat, but other foods would also be fine. snake is probably hard to come by, and can be poisonous. Probably, chewy also.

Seriously though,1400 kcal is too low and not...

Re: Critique my Zone plan...because I'm dumb....

your meals look fine. If you are not losing weight after a month of this (while keeping cheat meals under control) then you can reassess.

If you have only been following for 1 week, it's too soon...

Re: Zone + Paleo

You are a teenage boy no? the very idea of you counting blocks and calories seems ridiculous to me.

Believe me, restricting your kcal intake as a growing teenager (on the "Zone") will do nothing...

Re: Chips?

My favorite potato chips are Cape Code original. Those things are so damn good. As far as potato chips go, they are probably close to as "natural" as possible, containing only potatoes, oil and...

Re: Trying to lean out? Your thoughts?

well if you do as you planned, it's about 2300 calories. Probably as good a place as any to start.

If you lose too fast and/or feel like garbage in the gym, add a little more. If you lose too slow...

Re: 0 Calorie Sweetner packets?

you could try weaning yourself off sugar slowly? I used to take 2 sugars in my coffee. I gradually reduced it... 1 sugar, half a sugar. Until I took none. Now sweetened coffee = ick (i still use...

Re: There is no try. Do or do not.

I agree. I think the % paleo thing is somewhat amusing. At what % paleo are you just on a normal diet? 70% ? 80% ? where is the line?

:D

Re: Paleo & role of carbs in muscle building

I'm not sure there are a lot of men out there who could gain muscle eating 2000-2500 calories per day. I can eat that many and I'm a girl.

You don't need carbs, you need excess kcals and stimulus to...

Re: is ezekiel 4:9 acceptable for paleo

not "paleo", no.

But if you aren't paleo, and don't have gluten intolerance it is a pretty healthy food and certainly a good alternitve to more processed white breads and whatnot. Good source of...

Re: High Energy Plan

To add to my previous post -
when it comes to protein, eggs are a great source of protein/kcal for $$
For meat, buy cheaper cuts like chicken thighs/drumsticks, tougher beef (and then stew or braise...

Re: High Energy Plan

What does your current diet look like, and how do you feel on it?

If you are low on funds and need a lot of energy to fuel a very high activity level, i would advise you stock up on cheap staples...

Re: Cheap alternative to potatoes?

Well if you have a tendency to overeat on plain potatoes, and it caused you to consume massive amounts of Kcal (more than you need) then sure you should probably avoid said food.

However, while some...

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Yes, I can eat 2000 kcal per day, and weigh about 30 pounds less than you. back when I was running a lot on top of work outs, I would eat more than that.

I think it's just that so many women try...

Re: Making some changes in 2010, what to tackle first

yeah all those things aren't mutually exclusive so it's kind of hard to place them "IN ORDER"

Like, food quantity matters of course, for weight loss. But if you address the Quality issue, you may...

Re: Cheap alternative to potatoes?

Yeah it depends on the person really. I find plain potatoes quite filling, and so I can't imagine getting fat off them. Like, I would find it hard to eat say, 3 plain baked potatoes with dinner....

Re: How do you cook your steaks?

just frying in a pan is fine. Grease the pan, medium high ~4 min per side is what I do. Less if it's a thin steak.

I like mine medium though. Used to be "well-done" (the horror! but I'm Irish!) and...

Re: Cheap alternative to potatoes?

If he's going to cut potatoes out, I'm doubting he would want to replace with any grain product, or even sweet potatoes right?

I assume the Reason for cutting them out, is to reduce carbs? just...

Re: Agave Nectar - Paleo or not?

It's a no. It's super high in fructose, worse than high fructose corn syrup I believe.

"The principal constituent of the agave is starch, such as what is found in corn or rice. The process in which...

Re: Is my Zone ratio werid?

It's not the zone at all, to even call it that still is silly. The whole premise of the zone is the 7-9 pro-carb ratio... with fat being neutral. So eating 163g protein, 112g carbs and 76g fat is not...

while the details may be different, the underlying idea is the same. A largescale lifetyle change, moving from jobs with a lot of physical exertion to more sedentary positions, having more access to...

Re: Controlled, True Low-Carb Studies?

I believe he meant, you would keep protein constant, and only vary the fat/carbohydrate. Only way to do a comparison really, seing as how protein has the highest TEF and therefore varying protein...
