Re: Charles Poliquin on CrossFit again!

I don't know about all of that. I know some guys from the Ranger Reg, and their PT seems to be just like ours in 82nd, but harder. At Bragg a lot of units started going with CF for awhile. They even...

Re: Charles Poliquin on CrossFit again!

I don't know about the Marine Corps, but the Army is no longer pursuing CF. Individual soldiers are, but not the Army as an organization.

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

[QUOTE=Justin McGinley;687628]BSS are brutally hard, but they aren't a full body movement like a squat.QUOTE]

Why? The only difference between them and back squats is that you are lifting with one...

Re: Antihistamines, CrossFit, and The Zone

I used to work in a pharmacy, and I've never heard of bloating as a side effect of Claritin.

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

I don't know. I've only done them with dumbells. And I would think with a barbell your back strength would still be a limiting factor, so it kind of defeats the purpose of doing the exercise instead...

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

I think that is Boyle's point...you can Bulgarian split squat more than half of your of you regular squat total. I guess maybe he is thinking that by doing each leg separately that you could do the...

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

Bulgarian Split Squats...at least that is what I've always called them. And they are a lower body destroyer.

Re: Marathon as elite fitness??

Yeah...that's what I meant. Thanks.

No, it's not. Both are competitions, both with elite athletes, both with distinct winners.

To which definition are you referring? Webster has three:

Re: Bloodwork for CrossFit / Elite -v- Normal?

I think that this is quite possibly the most inane statement I have ever read on an online message board. Congratulations...you have reached elite inanity.

Re: Marathon as elite fitness??

And I doubt that any elite marathoners haggle people as they are running and training on the streets around their town. But how would "elite" CFers feel if the CF Games allowed in the world could...

Same reason college students are more prone to infection...they live in close quarters with each other.

Re: Dave Tate and Total Fran Work Output

Since we're all about semantics, it would be "foot pound force" in imperial, not "foot pound"

You can use joules for torque, but it is discouraged by the SI Grand Wizard, or something like that....

Re: Dave Tate and Total Fran Work Output

You are incorrect. "Foot pound" is only commonly used as a measurement of torque when describing the amount of torque produced by an automobile engine. The more commonly used (SI) measurements are...

Re: WHY are your goals important to you??

Then CF is clearly not the best choice for you to reach your goals. That is because CF is designed to make you a novice weightlifter, sprinter, gymnast, etc. It will actually make you mediocre at a...

Re: Dave Tate and Total Fran Work Output

And foot pounds measure work, not power. The video used foot pounds, so that is what I used. But Stephen is correct, I did put a 3:00 time limit on all of my examples to make all things equal.

As...

Dave Tate and Total Fran Work Output

I just got done watching the video where Dave Tate critiques a Fran workout. I thought Tate had some interesting points but what stuck out to me the most was his initial thoughts on a "bodybuilder"...

Re: Do I need back squats?

I don't disagree...I was simply pointing out the fallacy of saying that deadlifts don't have an eccentric phase. I lower my deadlifts slowly. Because in real life if something is important enough for...

Re: Do I need back squats?

I would think that when you put the bar back on the ground that would count as an eccentric movement. Unless you just drop the bar...if you do then you should be ashamed.

Well...since CF is a...
