Re: Crossfit Culture and Dissenters

If you read the letters from HQ posted on the site, specifically the second one, it seems pretty obvious that they are going after him for what he is saying. The trademark angle is just the means to...

Crossfit Culture and Dissenters

I'm fairly new to Crossfit, but as I have become more involved in the sport, I have also started to become more involved in the online community. I like following people like Fitness Lonnie,...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Couldn't agree more. I was finally nudged into crossfitting after seeing last years Reebok Games, and now I am a member of a Reebok gym. Reebok has definitely made Crossfit mainstream.

Based on #3:

3. Show Off Your Bod
If you've worked hard for your body, don't hesitate to show it off with a sports bra and spandex shorts. In addition to looking good and feeling great, your body...

Re: Article: Reebok Revival Depends on Crossfit

As I understand it, Reebok owns the "Sport of Fitness" and the red triangle, and HQ owns "Crossfit." It makes sense that they would promote their own.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Doesn't homeopathy involve diluting a substitute until it becomes unmeasurable in the solution? How could a homeopathic remedy possibly cause a positive test for anything, it's just "potentiated"...

Article: Reebok Revival Depends on Crossfit

Thught this might be of interest to the community. As the article mentions, Reebok was a real force behind the aerobics movement of the 80's and 90's before falling on hard times. Looks like they...

Re: Getting affiliated

Another Crossfit in Korea, and with a trainer that speaks English - awesome. If you have the space and equipment, why not just open the gym now. You can't call it CrossFit until it's official, but...

Re: New US Army physical training program

Intuitively, that sounds right to me (although I admit to being mostly ignorant about this stuff), but I just don't see how specialization like that can fit into Crossfit. From the 'What is...

Re: New US Army physical training program

Good post overall, but this part ....

... I don't get.

Doesn't that exactly describe what we all do in Crossfit. Everyone goes to the same gym (or the same website) and does the WOD. People...

Re: Paleo Fats

You are right about that. Korean food is fantastic and healthy. There is a reason Korea has the lowest rate of obesity of any OECD country.

Re: Going Paleo, or Zone, or Zoned Paleo ... Help

I am not sure why you would say she is "very light" for 5'6". At that height (same as me) a person can go as low as 115 and still be within the "normal" range on BMI. I know those can be a poor...

Re: Paleo Fats

Thanks to both Tricia and Anthony, these lists are just the sort of thing I was looking for. I'll have to do more digging on the sesame oil, it seems that one list approves and the other does not.

Paleo Fats

I need a good primer on Paleo fats. Does anyone know of a link to a good website? Sesame oil is a specific question for me. They use it a lot in Korean cooking and I love the taste, but have read...

Re: Reebok or not to Reebok?

It's my understanding that it is Reebok that certifies them, but I don't know for certain. I just emailed someone at Crossfit about this and will let you know what I hear.

Re: Who is the Mainsite WOD for?

I'm new to all of this, but I thought that was kind of the whole point of Crossfit, "constantly varied, if not random"?

Do any top games athletes use mainsite?

Re: Crossfit for leaning out

I started crossfitting to lean out, too. Crossfit is circuit training, and circuit training is generally considered one of the best ways to lose weight fast from all that I have read. I agree with...

Re: Reebok or not to Reebok?

As I said, I was suspicious at first. You would be surprised at the level of IP theft that goes on in this part of the world. However, the trainers and some of the members competed in the Reebok...

That's what I thought at first, too. In fact, I thought the whole affilitate might be bogus because it wasn't even listed on the affiliate page on this site. I checked around a bit more, though,...

Re: Reebok or not to Reebok?

I am in Korea, so things may be different in other countries. Over here, the Reebok gyms are much nicer and bigger, more like a traditional 24 Hour Fitness or Planet Fitness back home. The trainers...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

During my on-ramp class I had to substitute knee-push ups for pull ups. I asked my coach if anyone else had ever subbed knee-push ups, he said no. Woohoo, Korean record. :pepper: Not bad for a girl...

Just checked out their website. I don't know enough about Crossfit at this point to know whether what Brick did was typical, but I bet it will become the norm in the future. I am just starting out...

First off, let me say congratulations. I just saw your Paleozone v. Morbid Obesity thread and, if I am reading it quickly, you have already lost 130lbs.
