Lower Back injury

Back in February I injured my lower back in a WOD that included deadlifts, hang snatch and front squats. I think I strained my left QL. I went to a chiropractor and that improved my situation...

Re: CrossFit affiliate lawsuit against Steven Devor, Michael Smith, and NSCA

The whole thing seamed fabricated from the get go, intent on discrediting Crossfit.

Re: CrossFit affiliate lawsuit against Steven Devor, Michael Smith, and NSCA

My first thought, before Crossfit or anybody responded to this study was "How do you define injury?" If people just stop coming, it doesn't necessarily mean they're injured, even though they say so....

Re: Lack of Motivation

Jeff,

I had a similar problem when I first started. Feet and knees were terribly inflamed due to shoes with to much of a heel. Had to take a couple of weeks off and go see a Dr. WOD'd for...

Re: ankle mobility help needed

Try the rebuilding the feet series...especially this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h8uxhXhozY

You might also try some minimalist shoes.

Re: Wife worried about Rhabdomyolysis

Be careful on GHD's. It's really easy to over train and get rhabdo with GHD's. Start out with 3 reps and go up by 1 each week. You can do several sets, but don't over do it. Drink LOTS of water.

Re: Reasonable amount of progress 4.5 months in?

Yeah, I was much like you whe I first started. It was like I was trying to do a strict pull up with a knee raise. Eventually I got the movement down. Focus on moving those shoulders back and forth....

Re: Pull Ups, when is it time to start kipping?!

At our box, we just went straight to kipping pull-ups, but I think it might have been a good idea to just start with strict, with bands if you need them. Recently I started working on my strict...

Re: Intensity Question

Honestly, it might have more to do with ego. I used to workout like a bodybuilder where weight was king. Now it's not. Endurance has always been a week point for me, so it would only make sense do...

Re: Intensity Question

Well, he did say he wanted 'to see me more.' I'll get clarification. My back was out of alignment, and I think its been that way for years. That's not to say that I couldn't or shouldn't go...

Intensity Question

I know some of you own your own box (and would have a different perspective), and most are crossfitters. A little backbround ....So I've been Crossfitting for about 3 months, and love it. My box...

Re: Not Quite Getting It

Obviously we're not going to workout 4 times a day unless our name is Rich Froning, but we've got to commit to it....got to include nutrition and mobility.

Re: Not Quite Getting It

Are you kidding me? Crossfit - and any fitness regimen for that matter - is not a 20 min routine. It is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week commitment if you want results. You're not going to find the...

Re: Crossfit Shoes

I've got the New Balance MT 20's I think. First 2 - 3 weeks my legs (shins, knee's and feet) were killing me. Was going to quit Crossfit altogether, but first I went to a foot and ankle Dr. He...

Re: New to CF, trying to condition my body. Few Qs?

I come from a bodybuilding mentality, and found it incredibly hard to prepare for Crossfit. It definitely found my weaknesses. Before you jump in get a good pair of running shoes. Scale your...

Re: Overhead Squat on Smith Machine?

I would say no. I used to do back squats on a smith machine, and could do over 400lbs 6x. Switched to regular squats and could do only about half that. Not to mention that my back was absolutely...

Re: New Crossfitter from Huntsville, AL, USA

As far as the front rack is concerned....He's talked about hands being wider than your shoulders, and even wider for some of the other exercises. Hands loose, and kind of changing the grip if your...

New Crossfitter from Huntsville, AL, USA

I started Crossfitting a 3 weeks ago and love it. I've been lifting weights for 14 years, and wanted something different. On my first day the rolled out a Paleo/Body Comp competition, and I hope to...
