Re: Squat Stands - My Attempt @ DIY
Another DIY squat stand is to take some 2x4s, 3 per side, cut one how ever high you want the bar to set, then another 4" taller, the final one 2" taller. The smallest is the middle, the tallest the...

Re: Chicagoland Bumpers $1.29/lbs
First, if you are in Ohio, why don't you drive to Rogue. The biggest thing for me about going to FFO is saving the cost of freight and actually touching the gear before I buy it. These boards are...

They put different things on sale every week. Their weekly ad is in the Sport Section of the Friday Chicago Tribune. They will wheel and deal on everything.

Re: Stud Bar - Yes or no?
I thought about getting a Stud Bar, but went with the DIY version using pipe, elbows, flanges and a 4x6. I have no regrets. It costs half as much and there is something even cooler about training...

In today's Tribune, Factory Fitness Outlet has an ad in the sports section for bumpers @$1.29/lbs. I have seen these and believe they are made by Wright.

There is an add on Craigslist for Bumpers in Chicago at $1.5/lb. This is Fitness Factory Outlet. You can probably get them a little lower. I have seen these and they are the ones made by Wright...

Re: Lyle McDonald on Crossfit
101 out of 194 is a mediocre performance. You guys can justify it all you want, but it is a mediocre performance. Also, let's remember these athletes had a Concept 2 rower and that in fact it is...

Re: Lyle McDonald on Crossfit
What is your interpretation of this data? CrossFit prepares athletes better then the NFL for CrossFit? Being really good at CF (2nd place CrossFit games), results in being very mediocre (101/194)...

I have a Wieder Doorway pull-up bar. I do hang my rings from it and I can do Muscle-ups in it. The rings hang about 14" down and I am just short enough to be able to hang from them and do MUs. Not...

When I read that quote, I thought more about exercises like get-ups, windmills, press, KB front squats, pistols holding KB, etc. In Pavel's book Enter the Kettlebell, he gets away from many of those...

Thanks Bill,
This was the bar I am talking about. It sounds like it will be in the same league as the Pendlay bearing class.

Burgener Bar?
Does anyone have any information on the new Burgener bar from Rogue? How is the spin? The knurling? The diameter? Price point? I am anxiously awaiting its release (21 Nov, I think). Thanks.

I would not recommend Functional Training for Sport. I bought it in Feb 07 before I found CrossFit (July 2007). It is watered down, Men's Health type stuff. I would compare it to Core Performance,...

VFF KSOs Sizing
I just got a new pair of VFF KSOs. I ended up getting a size 42. I have had a pair of VFF Sprints for about 2 years and they are 43s. So, I ended up needing a size smaller on the KSOs.

If you are bouldering or at a gym a bucket is best. Next, a thick, strong paper bag. Both of these are deep enough to get your hands in and prevent the chalk from getting all over the place. If...
