Re: The Strength Base Linear Progression

Just about anything will get a novice stronger. Would love to see more great intermediate programs, after Bill Starr it's all pretty much been one big rehash for novices.

Re: Progenex Story / Research / It Works!!

I don't know. I like Chris and he know his stuff but seems like supp guys can always talk out of both sides of their mouth. If the same had been said about an Atlarge product or product stack I'm...

Re: Obliques - Best way to develop?

These days I just snatch, press, clean and jerk, squat, and do a couple WODs a week. Have always had obliques, have never isolated abs. Genetics + consistent compound movements + single digits body...

Re: Can I build muscle with CrossFit?

The short answer is yes that you can gain muscle with CrossFit. Over the last 10 years I've gained nearly 30lbs. However, you're not going to get to far here posting a pic of an abercrombie model. ...

Re: Doing your own thing at a box?

I agree. We also offer Olympic weightlifting as well as a CrossFit Sport program for competitors. About 10% of my members participate but they account for 50% of my referrals and are by far the most...

Re: Doing your own thing at a box?

We allow experienced people to do their own thing any time we're open as long as they don't interfere with group classes and it's some form of solid programming.

Re: Ryan Fisher vs. Dave Castro

Arms straight on the way down - good rep.

Arms bent on the way down - no rep.

It looked like consistent enforcement of a standard to me. And I know Ryan, have trained with him, and like him. But...

Re: Pull up rigs.

We started with a Rogue rig and still get all our parts and attachments from them. That said, a local fabricator can drill holes about as well as Rogue can but for half the price on the uprights.

Re: Level the floor

We leveled ours up with a wooden sub-floor as best we could. It's not perfect but we were able to shim it to a decent flatness without spending too much money. Covered with 1/4 inch rolled rubber.

Re: I'm 17, strength programming?

In the short term you could likely easily integrate CrossFitFootball's SWOD's in your current programming, just be sure to eat enough.

Re: Any thoughts on Progenex Protein?

@Chris....I typically take in around 250g of protein a day. So in terms of protein enhancing my recovery if you're correct then I would attribute my increased results to 1 of 2 things: Better...

Re: Any thoughts on Progenex Protein?

I disagree with every answer in this thread other than the fact that Nitrean is pretty good stuff too.

Progenex has a much higher percentage of hydrolyzed whey than most brands and their commitment...

Re: Snatch banging into pubic bone

In the long term widening your grip as well as doing some Pendlay rows or bent rows will increase your ability to boost from the pocket rather than down low on your pubic bone.

In the short term the...

Re: WOD before or after strength work?

Do your first priority first. It also depends on the length of your Met-con and your capacity for volume. I'll typically use a WOD as warmup for my strength and Oly work or at least some form of...

Re: Should one affiliate while the Anthos/CFHQ issue is still unsettled?

Litigation = 3-5 years. So yes, I'd affiliate and not worry about it. We've been open over 5 years and a lot has happened in that time frame, you'll be fine.

Ingredients do matter and with cheaper proteins you're often not even getting what's on the label. On another forum a chemist had people send him samples of their protein for testing. Someone here...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

I've been a part of CrossFit since 2004 and FWIW have met both Coach and Lauren, trained at the old CFHQ, and now make my full time livelihood from CrossFit.

Regardless of the interpersonal...
