Ah, I was kind of out the door as I typed that. The car wash/pressure washer method is what we would use on our IBA body armor in Iraq. Of course we would take out the Kevlar and the Ballistic Plates...

As far as Basic training goes, do not even bring the VFFs with you. When you get to your unit I bet you could get away with being able to train in them, but I would talk with someone about it first.
