Re: Bloody torn hands and bloody barbells at Regionals makes CF look dumb.

That video is absolutely ridiculous.

Also the fact that it came in the wake of a workout with moderately high rep Olympic lifts performed for time?

Even more telling.

Re: Another Back Squat

But the knees should come forward as far as mobility allows in a high bar correct?

Knees should travel forward less in a low bar squat.

Re: Nike Romaleos and other recommended shoes

The Romaleos are fantastic and I definitely recommend them, even at their relatively high price. You get what you pay for; if Olympic lifting is important to you, you can't go wrong with them.

Re: Pull ups eluding me

Janie, how many seconds on the way down can you hold a good steady pace for your negatives? And when I say steady I mean it: no speeding up or slowing down. Nice slow negatives (think 5 seconds)...

Re: Starting Strength success

Nice work.

What were your numbers when you started? And were those 1RM or work sets?

Re: Front Squat Check.

Thank you. This perception that the butt goes back and down with ALL weighted squats comes up time and again. The absolute worst is when this is applied to the front squat. I guarantee no one...

Re: The McRib is Back for Six Weeks

Yes the bread is the most nutritionally egregious part of the Mc Rib.

Re: Is a pistol done while grabbing your foot still a pistol?

Shane, is quads locking up a sign of flexibility issues? I have this very problem when I do pistols and L-sits. On L-sits, my quads feel like they're cramping up horribly.

Re: CFT Video What Order Do You Go In? (+ K2E)

As far as the deadlift:
-The hitching is a very bad habit to get into. You see a lot of that in videos nowadays. It's just unnecessary in my opinion. Get strong enough to lift the weight without...

Re: Front Squat check

Sigh.

This is a front squat. The knees are supposed to come forward. Try front squatting heavy with your shins vertical. Good luck with that.

Re: Canned Salmon

It's the ratios of Omega3 acids to Omega6. Wild salmon has much greater amounts of Omega3 acids than farmed salmon.

Re: 500m Row Times

To the OP, that is a very fast time, congratulations.

My PR is 1:30.3. That was brutally difficult and I haven't tested it since January.

The worst rowing workout I've ever done was a 2K...

Re: Front Squat Check

Of course a lifter needs to keep weight on the heels during any squat and I never said the opposite. And I also never told the OP to plop straight down in a squat. I said that forward travel of the...

Re: Front Squat Check

How in the world is he going to front squat by bringing the hips back and down? Having the knees come FORWARD isn't unsafe. Having the knees come INWARD is unsafe. And the front squat is anterior...

Re: Olympic Lifing shoes

Just another vote for the Romaleos here. I love them and wish I hadn't waited so long to get a pair.

Also, as far as using them for overhead movements: I was stuck at a 175 1 RM push press for...

Re: INOV-8 F-lite 230s

Jon, what about the 230s versus the 220 PK? How similar are these? Pros/cons to both?

Re: mixing coconut oil w/lean ground meat to make it more fatty..

Sorry, I missed that.

The reason I brought up grain fed beef was because I didn't realize he was talking about grass fed.

Since the OP IS talking about grass fed, then I'm with you, I don't see...

Re: Vibrams

Wow those look great. I like these because it seems like they would be more useable on pavement running surfaces (which living in the city, that's about all I've got). I just don't like the idea or...

Re: mixing coconut oil w/lean ground meat to make it more fatty..

I don't think he said he was buying >90% lean grass fed ground beef, in which case mixing with a quality fat seems like a good idea. Animal fats in grain fed meats are pretty high in omega 6s.

Re: Rep scheme: 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1

Fully agreed with Brent.

We follow similar programming at my affiliate and the goal is to set a new 1RM PR, not a new 3RM PR, 2RM PR, and then 1RM PR.

Re: FiveFingers & stress fracture

Honestly, I don't like using my FiveFingers for anything other than walking or running. Using them in CF generally isn't a good idea IMO unless it's a running-only WOD. I think a lot of stress can...

Re: Crossfitting in Stevens Point, WI

I went to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for undergrad and we had two gyms. One was designed more for the students and had mostly machines. But there was an awesome one for athletes and it had...
