Nothing wrong with a workout of doubles for form. But that is the purpose- form. Do doubles on the minute.

Starting out, strength is better achieved with 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps

I am 5 ft 8 and 225 and 17-20% was typical for me. I am at 220 and 15% right now just with changing up the diet to a 75% paleo approach.

Still getting 250-300 G of protien a day to hold...

Yes, you should improve.

I am much like yourself as far as endurance. Lots of speed for 50 yards, lots of power for a short bit, and nearly no endurance.

A real problem when I need to run a mile...

Infinitely scalable/flexible. Work with your trainer to do the exercise with less reps, or a modified version, or a completely different/substitute...

David- I consider CFit an athletic endeavor and therefore we are athletes.

A couple decades ago I was highly engaged in the major 4 sports and my wife was talented and committed enough to be an NCAA...

If you go about a WOD properly, it is an extreme athletic event.

Our best athletes often have DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). Some light work and foam rolling...
