Thanks for the help guys. Headed up there tomorrow on a house hunting trip, and hopefully I get some free time to scope some of these places out!

Re: Moving to Cleveland, OH! Need Oly Gym!!!

Brian,

I have not found a place to live yet. I am scheduling a visit the 2nd or 3rd week in January to find a place. Right now I am looking downtown and Lakewood due to the walkability aspect, and...

Re: Moving to Cleveland, OH! Need Oly Gym!!!

Kevin,

I am looking for a place downtown. However, I will be working out west so I will be able to hit any box in downtown Cleveland or the Western suburbs.

As for a gym, I have been crossfitting...

Moving to Cleveland, OH! Need Oly Gym!!!

Ladies and Gents,

I have been involved in Crossfit since 2008, and I still coach. However, I have been strictly olympic lifting for the past few years. I recently finished grad school, and have...

Re: front squat critique 165#

Not too bad from the angle of the video. Try to film it from a front 45 degree angle.

Only thing I can really pick up from this video is that you are beginning to tilt forward a little. Which moves...

Re: Clean Check

On the second video.

Early arm bend is still there. It is diminishing the amount of power that goes into the bar.

Another thing I see is that you are pulling from your toes. On the second pull, try...

Re: Mental cues

I find that my mental cues are very very similar to a golf mindset, especially with the Olympic Lifts. It seems that every time im golfing and olympic lifting I find myself in the same thought...

Re: 200-lbs Snatch

For SURE! I think you have at least 225, and from there its just about putting in the squatting 4-5 times a week.

Its always about going Beast Mode!

Re: Clean(s) question

People who PC more than a true clean are either technique limited or lack sufficient leg strength to squat the weight up.

Re: Back Squat PR Check

Not too bad... It looks like there might be a left / right strength discrepancy going on here. You start twisting to the right during the eccentric portion of the lift. Do you feel that you favor one...

Re: Back Squat Check

Just being a little picky. It appears you are low bar squatting, I would initiate your squat with the hips back instead of knees forward. In a perfect low bar your knees should not come past your...

Re: Fran

Good Job... Thats a tough first WOD.

I would probably scale it to where you can finish in under 8 minutes, and as that strength and muscle endurance develops you will be breaking 5 before you know...

Re: Clean(s) question

Clean is from the ground.
Hang clean is hanging.

Re: PR C&Js here

Congrats on the PR.

On the clean:
Not too bad, but I did catch a few things.
-I think you are a little too far back on your heels in the initial setup. Try sitting down to the bar a little more...

Re: exercise for martial arts

Look into the book called "Training for Warriors" by Martin Rooney... Awesome! Lots of movements geared toward combat sport. Mix these into any metcon and have a great combination of typical crossfit...

Re: Push Jerk Check

Dip / drive insnt too bad... Although, a properly performed jerk should not be pressed out. You have that weight easy. Just catch it in more of a squat. That was a borderline push press...

As soon...

Re: Can I compete?

I would start with starting strength or something similar. If you want, you can come up to Knoxville one day, and we can evaluate where your strength and technique is. Also, there is one of the best...

Re: Squat Depth

They are definitely parallel. Although, the last one was better depth. If you are low bar powerlifting the first two would have counted, but I do prefer the olympic squat... Thats just me though!

Re: Squat Clean Help Please

Haha.. a donkey kick is where you unnecessarily kick back with your feet in order to exaggerate your feet moving from a leaping position to a squatting position.

Re: Squat Clean Help Please

A few things that I see:

1.) You are pulling with your arms right from the ground!. Imagine that your arms are just muscleless chains that attach to you to the bar, that is all. They should not pull...

Re: Clean and Jerk Video- critique please!!

Few things right off the bat. Really not too bad for your first time, but you definitely have some work to do. Dont want to give you too much to think about so that there is no "paralysis by...

Re: Should I Be Scaling Down?

I was familiar with a lot of the olympic lifts. I started learning them at the age of 14. It really depends on what you were doing before. I played football my entire life, and after college started...
