I'd say stick with the dumbells for a while. They actually aren't too silly when it comes to things like cleans, clean & presses/jerks and are ok for front squats aswell. You can deadlift with them...

Result: 45 thrusters! ... split in sets of between 16 and 5. DAMN! Former PR is 21 as far as I remember.
