Re: 14.3 tips and strageties. Jump or step?

If you can do jumps quickly and unbroken, do them. If not, do step ups and jump down.

Jumps should be faster than set ups, but if you have to stop and take a few breaths between jumps there is no...

Re: Milk ???

I have personally done the GOMAD thing. I did it for about 6 weeks in conjunction with Starting Strength(3x/week) and simple WODs(4x/week). I went from 150lbs to 176lbs. My 1rm DL went up 40lbs, back...

Re: What do you think of Batman's gym?

So what? He can do leg curls on his bench, just as good as squats.

Re: No CF Gyms Between Memphis, TN and Cookville?

There's an affiliate in Jackson, but I know that's still a drive from Selmer. As already mentioned, sounds like a business opportunity to me.

Re: Good App For Measurment

Something like MapMyRun would work or any GPS running app really. MapMyRun has a walking option too and can be set for US or metric distances.

Re: Pull up Grip & Front squats

What type of grip are you using for pullups? Thumbless(monkey grip)? If you're not using a thumbless grip, try it. With a thumbless grip you are really just hanging on the bar, not so much gripping...

Re: Best CrossFit Affiliate Logos

I like this one from CF Bedford Hills. Simple, clean, and unique. I'd think it transfers easily to shirts, stickers, etc. easily too

Mike, since you helped me out this morning, maybe I can return the favor.

Re: Using railroad ties to create pull up station.

Railroad ties are probably over kill. You could use 4x4 posts, or if you wanted it to be a little more beefy go with 4x6's

Re: CrossFit Level 1 Course Review - March 2013

You are correct. We were told at my L1 course that 80% of people that take the test pass. The minimum passing score on the test is 70%. Does that help clear up the confusion?

Re: GOMAD - Starting out

I did GOMAD last year for about 6 weeks. I went from 152lbs to 176lbs, and yes some of it was "soft". I would say about 7lbs or so of lean muscle realistically. My strength went way up though. I put...

Re: Good Minimalist Shoe for Concrete Running?

I use the Merrill Road Glove. More comfortable the the Minimus's to me and I've been a long time New Balance wearer. I've ran as much as a 10k in them with no issues.

I got mine at runningwarehouse.com. They fit about the same, size wise, as any other shoe I have. Just order your normal size. If it doesn't fit they have free return shipping too.

Re: better shoes for CF

Go with NB MT101's. They are a great all around shoe for Crossfit. I started wearing them a few weeks ago, and now wear them more often than my VFF's. Plus, they are cheap. I got mine for less than...

Re: New Army PT Test!

I read somewhere that the reason push ups were left off is because they weren't a "gender neutral" exercise. The Army felt females would be at a disadvantage, since both sexes will be on the same...

Re: Subs for oly lifts?

I actually tried to practice at home last night with a broom stick, but it felt really akward. I guessing this may be due to it not really providing any resistance since it's so light. I'm going to...
