Overhead squats caused my arm to become numb.

Hi,

I did "Nancy" the other day which includes 5 rounds of 15 overhead squats. I just started adding overhead squats as I'm starting to get the shoulder flexibility to execute them comfortably.

I...

Re: Blisters, a bit petty but still curious.

Here's just one of many links in treating calluses on the hands:

There's a great pdf in Crossfit Journal specifically...

Sharp, throbbing pain on the left-side at the base of neck from pullups.

I was doing "Nicole" on 7/31 (Friday) and on the 4th round during pullups felt a sharp knife pain in the base of my neck on the left-side. Almost in the bottom of the skull. The pain throbbed with my...

Is a high pull basically an upright row?

I was wondering if the high pull in the sumo deadlift high pull is essentially an upright row? If so, I've heard from numerous sources that upright rows are bad for the shoulders.

Re: Weighted box jumps and ACL strain

I asked the same question in a FGB thread. I would always step down but get about 20 on the box jumps. Once I saw people dropping down my total went to 40.
I would think the stepping down is better...

Re: Weighted box jumps and ACL strain

The jumping on stairs shouldn't make much of a difference. I use stairs sometimes.
In regards to vertical leap, there are a ton of things you can do to improve jumping. First question is what kind of...

Re: Weighted box jumps and ACL strain

Agreed. Just landing with body weight is already a significant impact.

Re: What are people using on the bottom of squats, etc?

The depth guide for me will help with my knees. I've had ACL reconstructions on both knees and ATG squats are uncomfortable. The depth guide will allow me to not waste any mental effort on depth and...

Re: 2 FGB questions.

That's so funny. I've been doing 85# on all 75# exercises. Thank goodness I've only been doing Crossfit for 2 weeks. I was wondering why when I was doing a 95# it didn't seem that much harder than...

Re: 2 FGB questions.

Thanks for the response. I've got to get those Olympic bumper plates! What a relief on the back they will be. I did Randy the other day Rx'ed and I almost wanted to up the weight so I didn't have to...

Re: Best stretches for deep squat.

Also, don't force ATG squats. If you've had knee injuries, especially ACL-related, deep knee bend squats can compromise the ACL. Just be wary.

I've had ACL replacements on both knees from back in...

2 FGB questions.

FGB questions based on multiple videos I've watched of others.

1. FGB lists the sumo deadlift high pull as 75 which should be 20 pounds on each side of the bar (I would use 2x10's on each side). In...

That's what I thought it was but just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the clarification.

What are people using on the bottom of squats, etc?

I've noticed in videos of wallballs, thrusters, etc., that people have what looks like a medicine ball under them as a guide? Is that what it really is or is there something else people are using to...

Re: Weighted box jumps and ACL strain

Jumping can put a strain on the ACL especially if you have suffered a previous knee injury and/or your mechanics are wrong. The risk areas are taking off and landing. The risk from taking off is...
