Re: Question about programming

You won't be making very much progress at all with programming like that. More isn't always better. I suggest finding a new box.

Edmonton Crossfit?

I'm moving to Edmonton shortly and I've started looking up Crossfit gyms in the area. There are a ton and I'm not used to this much variety. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good box? They all...

Re: Westside doesn't work for raw, huh?

That is amazing! Though I've read up on the westside philosophy in the past and it just looks so confusing. I wouldn't know where to begin with something like that.

Re: Oly Shoes

I've seen a lot of power lifters train and compete using weightlifting shoes (I do that myself as well) while almost no one uses them for the deadlift they help a lot even for the low bar squat.

Re: Box Skill Levels? Do you have them?

My box just started incorporating "beginner" "intermediate" and "advanced" levels. I personally like the idea and I think it's going to make coming back to CF a lot less intimidating. Now instead of...

Re: Gslp

The e-book is worth it. It explains things very nicely.

Re: Fastest way to RX

This is relevant to my interests. I'm curious as to what you offer. Maybe you could set up a blog like an affiliate does? Or maybe open an affiliate of your own (though you'd be competing with...

Re: Low bar vs. High Bar, once again

I didn't know that. Interesting.

Still I feel debating Low bar vs High bar is pointless. I think Pendly posted on here said the difference isn't as great as most people make it out to be (even...

Re: Low bar vs. High Bar, once again

Unless you're planning to compete at high levels in powerlifting or olympic lifting it really doesn't matter. As long as you put the bar on your back and squat who cares where it's placed? Moving the...

Re: My experiance with Madcow + Met-cons

Because I'm curious (not that it makes much of a difference) do you program low or high bar squats at your box? I've heard some programs like madcows are better done with low bar.

Re: Deloading?

I can only speak for what I've experienced at my box. From what I've saw we never deloaded or took an easy day. Since every day was supposed to be hard. Though personally I found if I took a week or...

Re: Starting Strength

I did SS for a while and it's good when the weights are relatively light but I found when the weight really started to get heavy it affected me. Squatting 3x a week really messed me up and it got to...

Re: SL 5x5 Switch to SS Help!?

What program would you recommend instead? Most beginner programs are like that.

Re: Eating Properly On Night Shift

I work the exact same shift and you just have to force yourself to eat. There's no real way around it. Even if you don't *feel* hungry, eat anyway. I pack a big lunch and take leftovers from the...

Re: Gslp

My normal workout routine is M/W/F but next week I will be going out of town and I won't have access to a gym. So for next week only can I switch up the days I work, going from Sunday, Tuesday and...

Re: Gslp

I'm working on hip and ankle mobility every day. I'm also looking into getting some shoes with a slightly raised heel to help hit depth a bit easier.

Re: Gslp

Oh yeah derp, I'm doing high bar squats with my feet slightly wider then shoulder width and I was wondering if that was still ok? I was told I have good depth when a few people critiqued my form....

Re: Gslp

I've been squatting and trying to go ATG but I find the only way I can get ATG is if I take a shoulder width stance (or maybe slightly more then that) Is there something wrong with that? I'm still...

Re: Gslp

My physio is going well so I should be back to lifting soon. Once I'm back I plan to start really light and work back up, though I wasn't sure about where to add conditioning. I will be lifting...

Re: Can't lift heavy or run....now what?

This is my second opinion. The first doctor I went to did x-rays and said there was nothing wrong with me (which I don't agree with) The people I went to see after that specialize in sports injuries...

Re: Can't lift heavy or run....now what?

The physiotherapist said it was Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) so I'm not sure how this will impact my lifting goals (or my goals of making it to regionals eventually, but I have to put the Open...

Re: Can't lift heavy or run....now what?

Very mild pain, I was told there was something out of wack with the L5/S1 vertebrae (involving the muscles around it being weak) and that it's pinching on a nerve causing my right leg to be very...

Re: Can't lift heavy or run....now what?

Kinda, they're just very basic bodyweight exercises (wall squats, glute strengthening workouts, leg raises, etc)

Can't lift heavy or run....now what?

I went to go see a physiotherapist about my knee pain and I found out it's the result of a pinched nerve in my lower back that's making my right leg very tight and pulling on the kneecap. So as a...

Re: Programming for military

Instead of trying to program your own routine, why not go with a proven program? GSLP, 5/3/1 are great options for building strength and adding conditioning in. Or you could check out Crossfit...
