Re: Breaking up reps
Isn't that what they are doing when they write: "for time". It seems to me that your main point here is that "for time" is being over emphasized in the WODs people are doing. There are other CF...

Re: Breaking up reps
Jamie, I think the idea behind doing whatever results in the fastest time in "For Time" WODS is:
1. It's best to have a single goal for a WOD. That makes tracking improvement much easier. It's...

Re: Birth control issues?
I don't have anything to add re: birth control, but I wouldn't discount your training plan as a source of your stalling. CF calls for doing WOD's 5 to 6 times a week. I know I don't make any...

My mom had one ordered for her office. She used one to save the life of a man working there who had a massive heart attack. He was in poor health and died the next year anyhow, but it literally...

Re: Question regarding SS
This is somewhat true, but the weightgain from SS will have an impact on your pullup numbers. I went from 23 pullups to about 10 while doing SS for about 12 weeks. I think I gained about 20lbs...

Re: Want to see my abs!
I don't get it. If high volume work makes people fat, then why aren't endurance athletes who follow traditional high volume programs fat. They should be real tubs of lard with all that running and...

Google Jumping Pull Ups Rhabdo. There are plenty of known cases and jumping pull ups are a known risk. Also read this thread. http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=38220

Didn't see this posted already, but Politico has an article on CrossFit today that some may find interesting. It links back to a new CFJ article that was linked on yesterday's MP.

Re: Designing a Home Gym
If you are designing a "show gym", I'm not sure you are in the right place to ask for advice.
We would want a great lifting platform with high end specialty bars and bumpers, a C-2 rower,...

Re: where to look while squatting?
One general truth in lifting heavy things that I try to follow unless there is a clear reason not to is: keep a neutral spine. If you keep a neutral spine/neck while low bar squatting, you will be...

Re: Want to gain muscle weight
CrossFit is a really good GPP program (overall fitness to use your category). If that's your goal for a workout program, then CF is a wonderful choice. It's what I do to pursue that goal.

Re: Want to gain muscle weight
Lift heavy. Eat more. If you get fat, eat less but always lift heavy. Follow a proven strength program like SS or WSSB, don't just make up your own program.
CF is a GPP program that people tend...

Re: Want to gain muscle weight
Eat lots of calories. Don't worry about eating clean or the zone or any of those things, just eat. Make sure to get at least 1.5-2g protien for every lb of body weight. Do SS for 3-6 months and...
